I guess it was a bad choice looking back, but I think Shaq’s contract was a result of Luke retiring.

Nope. From day one everyone knew it was Rhule bringing in "his guy". Rhule deserves credit for Anderson, and Rhule deserves criticism for bringing in Whitehead who has been bad.
