Weatherly jacked this up with the move inside on a 3 man rush if memory serves. If he'd kept outside leverage it would've been a sack.

You can see him spinning himself completely out of the play. Awful rush, he would have had to  complete a 100 foot circle to get to Ryan. For making over $6M a year, he’s been very disappointing. 1 tackle a game is all he’s got. When Burns and YGM went out, the pass rush got noticeably worse. Outside of that one pick, he and Burris have been really disappointing, especially since they will cost us $10M+ a year and 2 comp picks.

he got chipped inside by TG. It was a good job by Gurley

Looks to me like he spun left to avoid that and took himself out of the play. Anyway, he’s been pretty disappointing. Hopefully Burns and YGM are a go this week because he’s not as good. Even Haynes has been noticeably better.

Gurley did do a good job there, but it's no excuse for completely abdicating your contain responsibility - which is exactly what Weatherly did there.  Let's assume for a moment that Weatherly had maintained outside leverage there . . . it would have further delayed Gurley and contained Ryan.

    • I understand why people say things like it could be worse in relation to Tepper but it just doesn't jive for me. Are the optics bad? Yes. Would I want her to be the owner of my team? No. But I mean she's only been owner for a year and the Colts overall are a better run organization. As far as I know they've also never had the distinction of having the worst win percentage in all of professional sports either. Tepper has owned this team for 8 years and about the only thing that has been consistent has been the ability to continue to find different ways to achieve new lows. Even now people are saying things are different yada yada but we said these same things at certain points under Rhule Fitterer and Reich. I'm going to wait to see how the rubber meets the road this upcoming season before I make any strong conclusions about anything in relation to the longevity under this franchise going forward.
    • This is a toughie because I wonder what a guy like Canales thinks about redemption stories for addiction issues. Also, I think this is a case of 1 player getting caught, and not being naive enough to think this isn't more common in college than we think. I'd toss a 3rd rounder out there. 2026 is essentially a redshirt season regardless, so he's not taking over for any NFL QB next year. Best case, he's ready to go in 2027 if we pass on Bryce's extension. Worst case, he's our future backup QB2. Kid has the tools to be an NFL QB. I do think we could somehow land a '26 3rd round pick back in a trade. Our past years' third rounders are: Brazzell Princely Wallace DJ Johnson Matt Corral All this to say, I could see a team like the Jets going w/ a 2nd. They have three FRPs next year.
