Matt Rhule on The Rich Eisen Show (10/12/2020)

The difference is Rhule.

I see the difference in a few Panther veterans....Boston's attitude and enthusiasm, KK has been hustling. Paradis has been OK, up from a train wreck in 2019.   But look at the players we brought in from other teams that were journeymen, discards, or under-performers ---Davis, Burris, Douglas, Cooper, Reed, Miller, Weatherly, Kerr---even our current stars like Bridgewater and Anderson.  I hope this magic works on Little and Thomas, but for now, these upgrades in play level were not expected.   It is contagious.

As for the rookies, Chinn at the end of the second (#64) is outballing Simmons taken #9.  YGM is playing well.  Pride is going very well for a 4th round rookie CB.  Of course, Brown is a pro-bowl DT.  Roy, for a sixth rounder, is not a liability and will be a productive DT in a year or so.

Throw in the fact that this coach has no preseason, and it makes this transformation even more incredible.

And remember, Snake says he would kiss his own ass if we win 6 games...So if you needed motivation 10 seconds ago, you don't any longer.

Gotta admit, that coughing in the end of the 3rd clip has me concerned.

Most likely nothing, but damn it always just creeps in your mind now

I'm sure it's nothing and he's getting tested frequently. I always get a cough this time of year, not a bad one but just a frequent tickle in my throat and it sucks so much more this year whenever I'm at work or have to go anywhere and I'm coughing and everyone just stares like I'm some PoS spreading coronavirus everywhere... I always cough into my arm with my mask on too, but still get the looks.

I took a beating because I stated this club was not a pedestrian talent group. I still stand by that and that they are a top 8-15 talent group. They are certainly not bottom 5 as some suggested. However, there is room for improvement in the off season. I love what Douglas has become for us but we still need CB, LB help. I know Chinn is seen as the joker, but we need another mike big time. Everyone gives Chinn lots of love, including me but I don’t want him to lead the team in tackles. That often means someone is not doing their job (LB’s).

I'm puckering. Never would I have imagined a turnaround like this and I'm loving it.

I understand all perspectives---no preseason, new coaches, depleted roster--dead cap out the arse--coach em up, MR.

Players can look at Rivera's blank expression's on Sundays so many times before they stop giving a sh!t

Rhule is actually engaged and making adjustments every play.

I have been calling you out, but there is no point in premature celebrating--we are in the easy stretch of the schedule.  If we win 6, we will need some video proof--I am planning on selling "Balm up, Snake" t shirts--proceeds go to charity.   !!! Let's face it, everyone is going to be wrong by the season's end.

Yep.  They talked about his energy--how he gets players to run through brick walls for him--I thought, "not in the NFL they won't"  He simply has the "it" factor--seems like a goofy fan that won a contest to be on the sideline for a day---and he gets the most out of everyone.  A real leader of men with humility.

    • And once again I showed you it’s been pretty even. We spent 2nd and 3rd rounders this past draft on edge rushers. No one’s going to sit here and do the math on a draft value chart etc. the only reason I even entertained this was because you said we’ve spent nothing on defense when that simply isn’t true. It also didn’t help we traded our ONLY WR worth a damn to trade up for Bryce soo… And this is kind of the issue with the anti Bryce crowd. This crowd tends to blame him for the trade up. I was team Stroud. Had the panthers not taken Young the only other QB they were going to take was Richardson. So your issue should be with Tepper, Morgan, Fitterer not Bryce.  Bryce is who he is and it was pretty obvious who he was during the draft process. Bryce is slowly developing into that guy most thought he’d be. Give him a WR like Jamo and this offense as a whole would improve greatly.  Anyone thinking he was the next Pat Mahomes or Josh Allen is clearly slow. Bryce was always going to need pieces around him much like EVERY other QB Burrow has Chase and Higgins and they’ve done nothing. After losing in AFC Championship in 2022, Burrow is 17-15. QB’s need a team around them It’s why a Jalen Hurts led Eagles team dismantled a Pat Mahomes led KC team in the SB Imo the QB’s doing the most with the least up until this year have been Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson  This year it’s Drake Maye and Josh Allen  Outside of the 3-5 elite type QB’s I’m not really sure what people expect here. Is Bryce ever going to be in that elite category? Nope. Should we punt on Bryce and keep swinging? I don’t think so. Should we keep swinging while hanging onto Bryce? Yeah but I don’t know what that looks like This team as a whole isn’t very good. Offense and defense and that’s the simple truth
    • I didn't move the goal posts. But anyone who follows football who wants to engage in a rational discussion can't argue that 10 7th round picks are equal to 10 1st rounders in value. The argument has always been we haven't spent as much on defense has we have on offense. Draft picks have value just like salary. We have not spent the same amount of draft pick salary cap on defense that we have on offense since drafting Bryce. It's not even close. Just the 2 1sts we used on Bryce, 2 overall 1sts have a value of 6000. That doesn’t even factor in DJ Moore or the 2 2nds. Bryce cost more than everything we've spent on defense in 6 damn years.
    • We need to hope this scenario plays our next week he fails with pressure…what that means with Evero, is beyond me
