Will Bridgewater complete a single game winning drive in the 4th quarter this season?

While I believe there is some merit in the thought that a young team needs to learn to win close games, I don't think that's our problem here.  Learning to win close games sort of implies that the opposing team, while close, was actually in control.  For example, the other team have the ball and are just draining the clock.  That does not apply here.

In five games, the opposing team has been very much vulnerable and there to be taken.  As a franchise, you cannot ask more than to have the ball at the end of the game with an opportunity to tie or win.  I see a lot of folks saying how good our offense has been, and yes, we've scored a lot of points.  But the offense has not been "clutch".  Regardless of how it happens, when you hand the ball to your offense at the end of the game, you have to go out there and win it.

Listen, for me, this season has been great.  I expected us to be historically bad on both sides of the ball.  The fact is, we've been competitive.  We've played hard.  I am very optimistic for the future.  Yes, it's a little frustrating right now.  But turning this roster into a competitive team against the best the NFL has to offer is no small feat.

The way I see it, if this is what a "rebuild" looks like, I'm super excited to see what it looks like when it's actually "rebuilt".

What makes Teddy reliable is also what hurts him in these 4th quarter situations. He reads the field and makes the safe play. Throw it deep into slightly tight coverage or do a quick checkdown for a guaranteed 5 yards down the field? Teddy is going checkdown 9 times out of 10. Scramble in the backfield for a few seconds and risk a sack but wait for a play to possibly develop, or pull down the ball and take the free 4 yards on a qb keeper? Teddy is getting you that 4 yards. It works pretty well for the first 55 minutes because you have the luxury of taking your time, getting down the field slowly on a bunch of 5-8 yard chunk plays while minimizing risky plays that might lead to turnovers. It's part of the formula why we stay competitive every week, on top of excellent coaching by Rhule.

But with 2 minutes left, no timeouts and having to quickly march down the field for a touchdown, teams are going to cover the deep ball while leaving those middle of the field checkdowns open. You're asking Teddy to turn into something he's not built for. Now could he build that part of his game? Possibly. But it's his biggest weakness for sure.

Worse yet, today they only needed a fg and there was actually time to get into range and do it.  Even with no timeouts.

He pretty much put the team on his back and led them on two touchdown scoring drives in the 4th quarter despite consistent pressure from the chiefs dline, but yea I guess he is a shitty QB for not driving the entire field with no time left and no timeouts.

He just needed a FG today....not the entire field. I thought if he was ever going to get it done, today was a great opportunity

I don't disagree . . . but isn't that something you should want in a QB?  A guy who can win you some games when you're close in the 4th?

For me it depends.

I know people love fourth quarter comebacks, but it's frequently true that the guys with the most fourth quarter comebacks are guys who didn't necessarily perform that great in the first three.

I get the appeal, and yes you do want a guy who can do that when it's called for, but I kinda prefer a guy who's consistent from the start of the game to the final whistle.

Not a big Theodore fan but maybe Phil Snowjob could call a game that doesn't require us to keep coming back at the end of games no matter which crap team we're playing?

If Phil Snow had average personnel on defense and not poo, maybe he could.

Seriously depending on 4 Rookies on defense, and you guys expect the defense to be good or some poo. Do you guys football?
