Vikings G Pat Elflein released

It should give some pause that they would rather cut the guy than keep him as depth in case of injuries, even though cutting him doesn't really save much money, if any (perhaps a few hundred thousand assuming he has offsets in his contract and gets signed by another team). Also our track record of signing linemen coming off injury is pretty terrible. That being said, he's probably no worse than what we have. Just don't expect much.

you're the dr., its a thumb ligament injury and he's cleared. how bad can it be? (serious question).  its not like he has bad shoulders and knees

He was the top rated center prospect the year he was drafted and fell. Has been terrible for the Vikings.

Had a torn ligament in his thumb this season. He is what he is at this point imo. Bad look when you're so underwhelming that the team spends a first to replace you the following season.

The Vikings also gifted us with Mike Remmers and Matt Kalil.

Perhaps we should take a hard swerve around this one on second thoughts.

It’s more accurate to say we gifted the Vikings Mike Remmers lol, he signed a big deal with them after he played here. Technically he was on their roster off-and-on for a year before us, but he didn’t play a single snap for them.

Minnesota has a recent reputation (maybe not fair now) of having one of the worst OLs in the league--yet we managed to find gems like Remmers and Kalil.

However, we have 7 games left or so, and signing him to gauge his impact in our offense might be worth a look.  Seriously, if we were smart, the remainder of this season would be a preseason for 2021.  We know what Boston can do--lets put Hartfield out there. Play Stantley Thomas-Olliver III, and maybe Chris Orr and Carter at LB.  There is a difference between game speed and practice speed--we need to know what we have and if we can use the rest of the season to find a gem at a need position, do it.

What position are we on the waiver wire?  Like others have said why not give him a chance

Think we are 9th. The rules are always changing but until week 5, that years draft position is used. Then its goes to w/l records with sos being the tie breaker. I have cases where teams at a certain level, switch in priority so no one team is claiming everyone. Do not hold me to that thought, too many changes and rules to keep up with.
