CBS early mock. Just a fun conjecture this Tuesday

As I have said before. I just want someone behind Teddington so I can quit worrying the coaching staff actually thinks he can be the franchise QB. As long as that doesn’t happen I will be worried he will be here after 3 years.
I like Walker but he isn’t an NFL starter. Once teams get film on him he’ll struggle, like Kyle Allen, who has a better arm than Teddy.
I hope they get their QB this offseason because if not I may be done with the Panthers for a while.
Hard to support a team when I can’t stand the guy under center. If it wasn’t for Teddy I probably wouldn’t have any problem with them winning a few games down the stretch. But every win lowers our draft stock and makes Bathwater potentially remaining here that much closer.
Because let’s face it. If we don’t get a QB this draft we will likely not get one in 2022 or 2023 unless we pay big and move up in the draft.
Of course we could still have things go badly for us and be devastated by injuries and go 2-14 next year. Kinda like the 49ers. Who knows.

Fields, Lance, Wilson. Honestly, I don't care. I just hope the one we like best is available for us.

And that's the worry. People just want a QB because they don't think Bridgewater is the guy.

There's no way Lawrence, Fields, Lance and Wilson all pan out. It just doesn't happen that way in the NFL.

Lawrence is off the board for us. Fields probably is too - but he's also only started for a season and a half, which is a worry.

So you're left looking at Lance, who terrifies me as he's dominated an awful level of football for a single year - he's a massive project that ideally you take in the third round based on measurables. Then Wilson, who I need to see more of, but I'm less enthused than I used to be.

Then you throw in Jones who's getting first round hype and Trask who should probably win the Heisman at this point.

Six first round QBs? Mental.

Teddy isn't the answer, but I don't want any QB. Read what I wrote carefully without your previous bias altering your comprehension of it.

By why not Kyle Trask?

A- plays better competition

B- has better stats than Joe Burrow at this point

C- not an unknown small school player.

Probably fundamentals. Watch his throwing motion.. something about it is weird to me. Dan has a great track record with QBs though (Dak, Alex Smith, etc.) but remember The Golden Calf of Bristol as well. Phenomenal college QB, bad NFL QB. I'm a MSU alum so I watched him take 2 star Nick Fitzgerald and get him on Heisman watch lists

A MSU fan myself. Mullins really can develop a qb. Hail State!

There's serious questions about how well his traits transfer to the NFL. In the Florida games I've watched, there have been a receivers winning a bunch of 50/50 balls.

Motion reminds me of a mix between Wentz and Andrew Luck. It's a bit of a long windup like Wentz, but the second half of the throw looks like when Luck would throw.

I don't know what to think about him. I think Wilson is more accurate with a stronger arm and better mobility, but I think Trask could run our offense well. He does a lot of quick hits and reads to his receivers but airs it out every once in a while each game. From what limited film I have seen, his receivers (Specifically Pitts) are better at receiver than he is at placing the ball. He throws quite a few 50/50 balls up for grabs for his receivers to get, not a ton of hitting guys in stride.

I'll look into him more at a later time.

    • In your opinion. What do you think Moton's true value in contract, dollars and guarantees? If we had not extended him, what is your plan for RT in 27 and 28? How important are good offensive linemen for our current offense? How much value do you put on protecting Bryce at this stage of his career? How difficult in general do you think finding above average tackles in the NFL is?
    • The Falcons have 2 significant offensive line injuries to start the 2025 season. Right tackle Kaleb Mcgary (who is the blindside protector for Penix since he is left-handed) is going to miss significant time, and it's looking more like it may be all season. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/falcons-expect-kaleb-mcgary-to-miss-significant-time https://x.com/BKsquared7/status/1959285822236107013. Also, the top backup and swing tackle, Storm Norton (cool name BTW) is having ankle surgery and may miss half the season. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/falcons-ot-storm-norton-out-6-8-weeks-after-ankle-surgery I don't root for injuries, but its also hard to be too sympathetic given how badly injuries have hit us in recent years. We definitely need to get that W in week 3 for our home opener at BOA. Despite our collective frustration at not being able to attend TC and then having boring preseason games, ultimately the most important objective of the preseason is to enter Week1 healthy, and we have at least done that. Hopefully the depth we think we have at Oline either shines through or isn't needed. Many other teams are in a bad spot with their offensive lines before the season even starts. For once, we aren't in that situation.
    • That roster was billed as a super smart and strong unit for a young QB….until he sucked though.   it didn’t have superstars but it had proven vets that checked well all the safe boxes and it was universally agreed the Panthers were putting him into position to succeed. BY just doesn’t fit a traditional O because he isn’t built like a traditional QB.  And he still doesn’t.   CJ Stroud would have had more success here than Bryce with that cast.   CJ just has the tools that fit the NFL more easily.  Young can find success but I have always argued it would take a Bryce centric plan (which we have never attempted IMO)
