Current draft range (3rd to 15th)

Alright Panther fans. Here is the draft order breakdown.  Things have become relatively clear in regards to our draft pick.  We could move up as high as 3rd, or drop as low as 15th based on what happens over the course of the next 2 weeks. Allow me to explain:

The highest the Panthers can move in the draft is currently 3rd.  This would only happen if we lose our next 2 games and the Bengals win 2 of their last 3 games.  This would put the Bengals at 4-11-1 and the Panthers at 4-12.

We can not catch either the Jaguars or the Jets, as the best they can finish is 3-13 and the worst we can finish is 4-12.

There are currently 12 teams with 4, 5, or 6 wins. One of those 12 teams is going to win the NFCE and remove themselves from the picture. The other 11 teams will by competing for the 4th-15th picks in the draft.  Currently, we are the best of that group and if the season ended today, we would be sitting at pick #4.

However, one win could drop us about 8 spots to pick 12, and 2 wins could drop us to 15th, given all the other teams fighting for draft position lose their respective games.

Assuming things stay where they are, how many calls will the Bengals have for Teams to jump a head of us and grab a QB?...

Bengals play the Steelers (tonight), then Texans (possible win), then Ravens.  Currently the Ravens are on the playoff bubble, so it is unlikely that they will roll over.

My guess is, the Bengals finish the season 3-12-1 and maintain the 3rd pick.

This is great, thank you

Are you sure about our current position? I thought Atlanta moved ahead of us based on strength of schedule. Are you inferring that if both Carolina and Atlanta lose their last two games that we would win the tie breaker with Atlanta?

This is correct as of right now.  Our SOS can change, but currently ours is lower (.531) than theirs (.536) keeping us at 4 and the Falcons at 5.

I don't think they move off of that pick with Sewell sitting there. He's exactly what they need for Burrow and is the best non-QB in the draft. No brainer for them to just draft him and not even think twice about it. Whatever extra picks they could get trading down wouldn't be worth it to miss out on getting him.

    • Baker was never at any point in his career a bust except maybe with Carolina, in which we set him up to fail to save the coach/GM. Darnold appears to potentially be a new Geno. I would give it at least another season before I am ready to make that leap. Another guy that would have never been successful here. Jones was never a true bust, IMO. Average to below average starting QB. Also his "ascension" is far from assured. This was far more fan hype as a "bust" than actual reality, IMO. Still TBD, ultimately.  MAC Jones is the same middling game manager QB he was in New England but in a Kyle Shanahan offense. So, if you think Mac Jones is now a "success" is Brock Purdy an elite QB? Is he middle of the road?
    • I’ll answer your question even though you won’t answer mine for some reason. I’m asking you because you were the one who brought up the threat of banning with Icege a few weeks ago and also because I’ve seen in the past a poster that you were disagreeing with get banned basically mid argument and the reason given was that they were a “single issue poster”, but I haven’t seen the same standard applied to people who align more closely with your opinions. OP is one of the most obvious and trashy trolls I’ve seen and yet I’ve noticed you specifically promoting his dead threading to gloat about the Panthers QB being bad.
    • No way do they give him a contract Keep him through year 4 but on the bench and get brisset for next year find that qb in 2027 draft seen enough  nothing short of a prolific offensive showing over the remaining  games against decent opponents justifies keeping him in a starting role next year  ..or Canales as offensive coordinator
