That would be awesome. Then we will just go without 2 1st round picks. And have no O line next season or CB’s. We literally have 1 of each under contract if that happens. Super bowl here we come!

but a All Pro QB for year's to come and wide open salary cap. Not sure the issue here. This is an exact situation where a GM proves he is worth the big bucks.

This team is currently built to draft a rookie QB and utilize his rookie wages to build a complete team around him.

People keep acting like we don’t have to completely replace our entire O line and that Paradis is the only one returning and on the last year of his deal (LT,G,C,G,RT), a starting DT across from Brown, get a starting Lb (Shaq is it), figure out what the hell we are doing at CB (Jackson is our only returning starter and on the last year of his deal) and eventually safety (literally everyone agrees Boston could be easily upgraded)

If Watson comes here, it's going to be massively expensive. The 2022 and 2023 cap hits are $40 and $42 million. 2021 is a very nice numbered year ($15.9 million) but that balloon payment following is going to be an anchor tied around our necks as we swim into the next season.

Yeah, he's good but no one can take up a third of the salary cap and expect to see much of a team built up around them.

Any team that makes this trade, turns his remaining contract into a long term deal. The reason he didnt sign a long term deal with the Texans is because he didnt want to stay there if they didnt prove things were changing. His current is purely a watson friendly deal to keep him in HOU. Now that he would be leaving, that new team (should be smart here) and re-write the deal in form of an extension.

As I said before. He would solve a huge problem but create just as many problems.

    • Ultimately it's up to the other safety prospects to clearly outplay Scott. I think when that happens on tape against other teams it'll be addressed. I think none of them have done that definitively and consistently yet.
    • Night and day difference in the front office investements.  Since Morgan has been in the FO (5 years)....4 out of 5 first round picks have been offensive players.  The one defensive pick was a corner. Expand it out to the first 2 rounds? 7 out of the 9 picks have been offensive.  That IMO is why our D sucks so bad.   You build defenses up front.   Carolina hasn't been investing there.  Ron's first 5 years? 3 of the 5 first round picks were defensive players.  Expand it all to include second rounders  7 of the 10 picks were defensive.  All front 7 players.
    • I think he gets this year to show what he can do.  Last year, we had a lot of injuries. This year, we should have some players, even if we lose one or two.  It's the first preseason game.  Some of the starters weren't even in it.  There is no scheming or game planning.  Let's see how guys do when it counts. I think we have a GM that knows a thing or two about defense.  Let it play out.
