SOURCE: #49ers have the inside edge to land Matthew Stafford https://t.co/ctB0S7wZLu https://t.co/xWja0KEei6

“The source did not say what the 49ers would have to give the Lions to get Stafford, although it’s presumed the 49ers would have to trade at least their first-round pick this year. Nor did the source say whether the 49ers are Stafford’s first choice. He most likely would love their head coach, Kyle Shanahan, plus their star players such as George Kittle, Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk, but probably wouldn’t love the California state taxes.

Still, the 49ers probably would give Stafford his best chance to win the Super Bowl within the next couple years.”

now Detroit will need a QB unless Garappalo is included in the deal.

That was made pretty clear when they made Stafford available.

Hard to imagine a better spot for him to go to. Very good weapons. KS offense. Talented roster.

I'm guessing Jimmy G is done???

NESN has been on the "Garoppolo back to New England train for a while" and published something two days ago saying he may be the Pats best option for 2021.  I've read speculation he could go back there in other places, too.

I know Hoodie liked him when they dealt him to San Francisco, and apparently McDaniels is still high on him.  Assuming the feeling is mutual, that would solve the no trade clause.

Stafford makes sense for San Francisco, and vice versa.

    • Svechnikov and I'm voting cause I'm pissed.
    • He had games where he was a top 10 QB that week, vs Saints, Falcons, Eagles, Chiefs, Bucs.  Amazing performances that I think show what he can do consistently.  He must play with confidence to overcome physical limitations where someone like Cam can struggle all game and then win the game at the end by running someone over. Bryce won’t be that and I am fine with it, it’s time for us to move on to the new era. It’s been 5 long years.
    • We both know there's more that goes into batted passes than just the height of the QB. Most people here have readily acknowledged this and there were numerous discussions about it before we drafted Young. But if you are presenting a POV that Bryce's height hasn't tied to issues with his footwork then there's nothing anyone is going to be able to say to sway you and you know this. Even beyond the footwork I recall a redzone play where Bryce couldn't see around his right tackle at all where a receiver was waiting practically alone in the end zone for a touchdown. There are real world circumstances that are going to show up over the course of the upcoming season and it's up to Bryce and Dave Canales to make adjustments and do anything they can to mitigate negative instances and yes that begins with Bryce's footwork again. Thanks for your time. Have a nice weekend.
