Heinicke may beat him for the starting job if they go that route, doubt they give him a fair shot. I always liked the guy, confused why they cut when he played well in the pre-season games. Glad he got some good backup money..... SUPER glad the panthers didnt do that either. I know hes not the 'GM", but seems like a classic herniay over-pay, I have huge doubts any other team wanted his services. Many team now only have two QBs on the 53, so that means WFT believes hes better than 63 other QBs.... thats a hard sale even for a fan like myself...

This is the dumbest poo I’ve ever read.

He hasn't been paid 63 million yet, he's only played one year of his 3 year contract.

Obviously but I’m guessing he would average about 15 tds a year with how he plays. My point is teddy was worth a 2 year 8 million contract not a 3 year 63 million. It was an absurd contract that many posters called out as soon as it was released.

It's going to end up costing the team $38M in cap space over two years for a player who cannot play, and should have never been on the team.

Dumb team.

Hurney putting his stamp on the organization already, by paying a guy who was out of football for a year before coming back to play 1 game (fairly well, but besides the point) a cool 8.75 million (over 2 years) with additional money in incentives.  Yikes.

yeah, that is too much.

meanwhile in other news, Cam Newton is looking to sign for an outdated bag of Doritos.

The problem Cam has is that he’s not backup material. His personality is just too big and despite popular belief he’s still a pretty good player. What QB will you ever see throw for 3tds and catch another in the same game? Not many. He’s most likely going to look better than your starter in practice and that will divide a locker room. He’s looking at another one year contract for a team who couldn’t get their guy in the draft or he’ll be out of the league.

He's not a good player at this point. He's more or less a RB that plays QB. Unfortunately that shoulder never really recovered.

    • Hmmm... not a good start. Maybe I'm reading too much into this but after the guy who has been carrying your offense expresses frustration with his sudden lack of use and your HC just blows it off and confirms they haven't even talked, your PR team decides to use the guy who should be his backup as their poster boy hyping this week's game? Yikes. Hard not to interpret that as another slap in the face.
    • For some reason this is becoming a disturbing trend in the NFL. Teams are shutting down one part of their offense without causation from the opposition. Shane Steichen did it an overtime loss against Kansas City last week with the best back in the NFL. Pete Carroll allowed Chip Kelly to completely abandon the run game against Dallas the week before he was fired in Oakland as the OC. Matt Lafleur abandoned the pass instead choosing to rely on a bottled up run game when we clearly were having issues with the passing game. Big brain play callers some of them HCs are what the league wanted along with high powered offense and these dudes are making some of the dumbest situational calls I've ever seen. At least most of them are young and can learn, Canales included. I remember Norv Turner trying to throw the ball around the yard in a certain SuperBOWL, going in at halftime down 13-6. Emmitt Smith said get me the d*mn ball and took over in the 2nd half. Remember Kyle Shanahan in the 2nd half vs. the Patriots? This shite happens to the best and the brightest. We are just actively seeing it play out in real time just like Atlanta and Dallas fans before us.  Also, not saying Canales is going to become either of those, just begging/hoping for our sanity he gets his shite together if he's going to be our HC.
