Sorry dude, but the suggestion that if this doesn't go to criminal court nobody's going to care is completely off the mark.

The allegations that have been made here are pretty serious, and the notion that a team in this day and age would just sweep them under the rug is just not credible.

Well dude (I guess this is a thing now), I never said that no one was not going to care. I was speaking to the legality of the situation. Apparently there are a few folks here that do not understand that there is a difference in civil and criminal.

Think of OJ Simpson as an example. The police had enough evidence to charge him and take him to criminal court. When judgement was passed he was found not guilty by a jury of his peers. However, perception and circumstantial evidence clearly showed that he probably was guilty (I think that he was) and that led to the civil lawsuit that found him guilty. The judgement was a financial penalty that he is still paying, or will pay for the remainder of his life.

Yeah the way it is being handled is scummy as hell.

I mean, the sex stuff aside--

Client solicitation is an ABA conduct violation.  He marketed his own experience and background in his rambling posts while basically advertising the forthcoming lawsuits like it was a preview for a tv show.  And now it looks more like him vs. Deshaun rather than the women he claims he represents.

And now, he's glamorizing this and it's just unfortunate regardless of what really happened (which sounds like it could be bad news for Watson).

Let's just get Lance haha

Some people are way too excited about Watson and this poo storm

Not sure who's "excited" (except maybe Sizzlebuzz) but this is way beyond being just a football story. Frankly, it's a pretty terrible story overall. The football part of it is the least concern.

As Ellis pointed out, somebody winds up hurt in all this. Maybe it's an innocent guy. Maybe it's a group of victimized women. Who knows... but it's all pretty nasty either way.

That's not really something anybody should be "excited" about.

Again, some of the women involved in this story are state licensed massage therapists. As was pointed out, that's not an easy thing to become. And if it were true, that would be a pretty easy thing to figure out.

Just because they're licensed doesn't mean they wouldn't do it. Are they risking getting their license revoked, yes, but the tradeoff of getting a payday is probably worth it.  They could get more money in a civil law suit settlement than if they worked as massage therapists for 30 years.  If they really wanted "justice", they could have filed criminal charges.

You think all 9 are in on it.

As was previously asked, all nine of them?

Worth noting that yhey're risking a lot more than their license. Win or lose, pretty good chance their lives are never going to be the same after this. People's identities do often come out in stories like this, and death threats typically follow.

And to be real, do you actually think "paid escorts" would go through the court system where their professions would be a point of evidence? Back channel contacts threatening to go public if they didn't get paid, maybe. The court system? A lot less likely.

I'd add too that knee jerk reactions like "just a bunch of sluts trying to get paid" are pretty embarrassing. Watson may or may not be guilty, but we should all at least be mature enough to see what happens.

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
