theres no way we outsuck the texans or lions next year, what to do?

people saying "oh well lets wait for 2022 and draft howell or ridder" are coping hard with todays disaster. this team is still too talented compared to them.

Texans need no introduction, they are a dumpster fire. Its quite possible Deshaun Watson never plays a down for any NFL team ever again. They have no offense, they have no defense. they just suck ass.

Lions are led by an R Lee Ermy wannabe and have Jared Goof as QB. Goof is terrible and was only covered up by extreme talent on the rams and smart offensive playcalling. They really have no talent on the team.

Panthers have 2 good wide receivers, a running back whos the best in the NFL when he plays, and a good defense thats getting better. add micah parsons to the mix or p surtain and you probably have a top 10 defense easily. however they will be led by bridgewater or someone even worse, so their cap is a 7 win team.

are we doomed for 7-9 purgatory again next year? are we gonna be forced into the same spot we are in rn yet again???

Yes, absolutely.

We’ll be looking for an overlooked later round guy.

QB purgatory is real. I expect 5+ years of this to be honest.

I bet we go through 2 drafted QBs before we find anyone close to a ‘franchise’ guy again.

Just the way things go.

What to do?

Calm down. Stay at 8 and take Lance if he falls or trade back to NE, Denver or Chicago if a Mac is still there and we dont take him

Use our picks wisely and build a rock solid defense with an oline and you dont have to have an elite QB to win it all. Denver and TB proved what a spectacular defensive performance can do to an MVP QB.

Do I want T2G. No. Am I prepared to deal with it while we build a team that is ready to plug a QB into it. Yes.

You are looking in all the wrong places.

Teddy needs a really weak injury like a stiff back in training camp to go on IR. Will Grier comes in to start and kills our defenses will to play and we win no games. We watch Brady and Tampa win another super bowl, he retires, all their stars who took a paycut to play there either retire or get paid somewhere else. Matt Ryan and Julio Jones continue to turn into dust and have terrible contracts crippling the falcons for the future. Taysom Hill plays well enough as a 1 year wonder with an amazing supporting cast to force the saints to keep him at his ridiculous salary before his team falls apart. We get our guy in 2022, and win the poo in 2023 and 2024.

I hate to tell you but the QB class next year is not great. People have not excepted yet but we might have to wait multiple years to see a good QB. Sucks Watson turned out to be a womanizer.

Yep.

IMO, it's

Howell

Ridder

FUG... these guys down here would probably be scrapping to be QB 7 or 8 in this year's draft.

    • this     I never cease to be amazed at the number of people who will run up their blood pressure to get to the grocery store 30 seconds faster or are racing to get to work like it won’t be there at 8:02.   The only thing I’ve ever done that I think added more years to my life besides quitting smoking, was to learn to go with the flow behind the wheel.
    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
