Can someone please explain to me any reasonable 1 point argument Cincy would not be taking Sewell?

And a player of lobbying for another player is not reasonable.

If Sewell falls to 7 I could see the Chargers moving up to draft him. Maybe Detroit would prefer to just drop one spot to get the same player but add a 3rd from us or something. Imagine Burns vs. Sewell in practice every day. Iron sharpens iron.

Dallas could also be in play to trade with Detroit. They just paid Dak a lot of cash and security for his blind side would make a lot of sense.

Tyron Smith die or something? I mean I know he was hurt last year, but they have a Top 5 LT already.

He's 30 and has missed 26 games in the past 4 years and is coming off season ending neck surgery. If they dont have faith in his long term health they could get Sewell and trade Smith. I'm not saying they will, but its plausible.

Edit: one trade could be Smith to the Chargers for 13 and a couple later picks and they can get the CB they need also.

Jonah Williams is only in his 3rd year. And played solid. It’s one of the few positions they don’t have a huge hole.

Burrow is probably campaigning for Chase, as you said. It’s as much as a need as they have. Doesn’t hurt to sleep him happy.

Now, I’m taking Sewell, or trading back. But those are reasons not to. Take Sewell and move Williams to RT/G. Which is where I still think his long term value is.

They have Reiff at RT but they already drafted Jonah Williams in 2019 at LT. I think Cincy is going Chase.

Yeah Reiff can also play LT.

Riley Reiff has agreed to terms with Cincinnati today.

A veteran offensive tackle who has been a starter at left tackle for most of his career, Reiff spent the last four years with the Vikings and five years before that with the Lions.

I really want Sewell!

He had played LT but he said that the Bengals will start him on at RT and that’s what I read as well. Williams is the LT. I do think they’ll go after Chase but at this point who knows. Until SF goes, no one knows.

Jonah Williams is made of glass though. Big olineman just don’t heal. Sat out his draft year in 2019 because he was already injured/surgery coming in to the NFL and then couldn’t finish last year due to more (different) injuries. First his shoulder and now his knee.

He appears to me as more of a reason they pick Sewell than not. He could always be moved to RT.

Guess it looks depends on how they see Williams coming along with his knee rehab but if I was a Bengals fan no way I’d pass on Sewell for Chase.

I think once the dust settles, he doesn’t make it past 5 so that Cincy can protect Burrow.

they just took a LT in the first round in 2019.

given that plus no more green.

burrow is going to super pissed if they pass up his man chase or pitts.

Not a massive fan of his technique:

This is film from when he was 18 and won the Outland award. The fact he has so much room for growth is scary and why Sewell is OT1.

Nah. Stand pat. Slater or Surtain would be just fine. Slater vs Young, only tape you need to see. That’s a top shelf NFL caliber end that he eliminated.

There are some that rate Slater above Sewell.  Not many but a few.

Slater is a stud and If Sewell isn't there he'll be one of our options.  I've kind of jumped on the Pitts bandwagon lately just because he is going to be a big problem for defense and I'd rather have him than have to face him.  Especially if Atlanta gets him.

Lotta possibilities for that guard.  Heck, a few RT candidates could fill that need--like Dant'e Smith, ECU.

I hope we draft Mills, QB, Stanford in round 3 if he is there.

If you will take Sewell or Slater (no preference) you could trade back a spot or two.

D’ante Smith is going to be a real good player. I saw some people struggling in the senior bowl 1 on 1s. He was not one of them. Easily imposing his will. It looked easy for him.
