Maybe the GM should have taken the opinion of the film and scouts over a brother. He wasn’t the GM...some of you acted like he had unlimited power within the organization. He has nothing to do with his brother being signed. The guy was the best center we have ever had, and did it the right way.

I said what I said and then to come out of retirement to play with another team? No way does he deserve that honor

From the way I read it, his recommendation was character based. Great guy with a strong work ethic. Rhule is a hardworking coach who wants hard working players. Guys who give 110% can be coached and will improve and Rhule is all about that. We saw the majority of our players improve last season. The ones who didn't are gone. I saw an ex football player who now works at ESPN, I can't remember his name. He was at the Senior bowl workouts and saw Rhule coaching all week. He was all in on Darnold becoming a good QB at Carolina. I'm paraphrasing but he said something like after watching Rhule work really hard and really coaching those kids all week that he was really impressed by him and he had not doubt that Darnold would succeed under Rhule.

You're thinking of Louis Riddick.

What are you talking about? Dude was the best center we have ever had and so what if Injuries caught up to him in his 30’s....that happenS to about 99 percent of all players at some point. He may of recommended his brother but he wasn’t the fugging GM. That’s on Gettleman not him as a player. What would you expect? Him to say his brother was terrible?

You missed the point, I’m not talking about his prime, he siphoned 2 teams for farewell money he knew full well he wasn’t going to earn - the writing is on the damn wall. Look at his history comments, they’re along the lines of his brother, pretending to be 100% for money. Bullshit. And it hurt my favorite team.

And yea that was on the GM but it was still stupid/shady of him to do and his recommendation for his brother was stupid too, regardless of what he was suppose to do or not. Him and his brother siphoned money from teams.

A player like how CJ went out is much more respectable in my option. Just because he is a fan favorite doesn’t give him a pass. Yea great watching him in his prime but he fleeced the team in different ways and with that, his opinion are BS.

While the move surprised many, Fitterer saw it coming because the Panthers also had talked to Miami about the possibility of moving to No. 3. Ultimately, the Panthers balked at the draft picks that Miami wanted. Plus, Fitterer was reluctant to make a move before the Panthers completed their evaluations of the top QBs in the draft by attending the pro days for Wilson and Fields.”

Ya know when you think about it, if Fitterer wasn't willing to give up that kind of haul in a trade for the #3 pick, it makes you wonder if he'd have also balked at making a similar offer for a certain Texans quarterback.

(mind you, it never got to the negotiation stage because Caserio maintained right up till the scandal hit that they weren't trading him, but still...)

You talk like he personally took money out of your wallet. The Panthers are on their third GM since that went down and those people are gone. Let it go and move on all this spite about long settled grievances from years ago is very unhealthy guy.

Im kinda surprised they didn't ask Robby Anderson about what he's like as well, since he was in the lockerroom with him for a couple years.

They did.

From the article in the link...

Rhule and Fitterer also begin talking to Robby Anderson and other players who were teammates with Darnold in New York.

To trash a player that played so well for us over the years because his brother didn't pan out is absolutely insane. He recommended Darnold because he believes that with his work ethic and our coaching staff he can become the player everyone thought a 1st rounder would become.

I'd also like to point out that the majority of talking heads on NFL Network, ESPN, Fox and other outlets say that Darnold was ruined by a bad coach and no talent around him.   To me this gives me hope that Darnold will be one of the greatest moves we've ever made.

I will enjoy watching all the negative Nancies on this forum eat crow when Darnold proves them wrong.
