Yeah so seems like in terms of total value to the team it's not much different than releasing him. We just valued the 6th round pick over the minimal cap space. I would've rather traded a late pick to get a team to take his whole contract but whatever.

That's what I'm seeing. We gained $5.9 mil this year.  Eating 17 mil that was going to him anyways.

Then next year the salary floodgates are opened.

It was this or a post-June 1st cut.  Am actually surprised we got this done, was sure he was going to just get cut eventually.
