Insiders have said several times that the team wasn't very high on Lance.

Their thought was that he doesn't fit Joe Brady's system.

Fair enough. If that’s the case I am surprised they put on the QB smoke screen to not take any deals down. Maybe they didn’t want to take a chance on losing Horn.

Man some of y’all can find any way to make something negative. It’s literally been ONE round of the draft jeez at least wait until it’s over to declare the Panthers incompetent.

They were most likely bluffing.  Not in the way you're thinking though.  They were trying to drum up as much value for trading back as possible or hoping a team would trade in front of them to take Fields so someone else (probably Sewell) would fall and it obviously didnt work like they had hoped.

Panther fans have no reason to hate Sam Darnold. We ALL want him to do well. We just have no reason to believe that all of a sudden he's going to transform into anything that he hasn't always been.

Panthers are making a habit of getting guys with known problems and limitations and hoping they magically morph into something different on their team.

Makes me wonder if they were still hoping a QB they liked fell to them. We know it wasn’t Fields or Jones. I think it was Lance, my favorite all along

See above.

We've been told by more than one source that the Panthers didn't like Lance and thought his skill set was a mismatch for Joe Brady's offense

Person stated a while back that the Panthers didn't think that much of any of the quarterbacks outside the top two. The result of the draft would seem to bear that out.

Kind of like Teddy Bridgewater without an offensive mind like Sean Payton? I detest the Saints but if they can go to the playoffs with two gloves and our staff can't string together some wins with Darnold it is going to start looking iffy.

They didnt even go to his 2nd pro day.  We didnt want him, Mac and Fields apparently.

I'm not so sure about that.

We just didn't get an offer we liked / apparently loved Horn. Two of the highly coveted QBs were there at our pick.

I am.

Jeremy Fowler actually said a little before the draft that the Panthers were putting it out there that they could take a quarterback but some teams weren't buying it.

Once the report got out that they weren't picking up Darnold's option yet, multiple analysts jumped on it to say that it meant we were probably taking a quarterback.

I bet after Lance went #3, they wanted Sewell most likely. Would have been a slam dunk pick. And then you could have gotten Asante Samuel Jr in the 2nd round. Horn was probably like guy number 4-5 on their list for pick 8.

College coach syndrome

guys are just a little bit of good feelings and Coach ‘Em Up away from being a tear jerking success story

    • Idk man, I think it’s necessary.  There’s people working 9-5s everyday that get told poo about what they aren’t and what they’re not capable of and they’re working for scraps.  These guys are making millions.  People are watching and invested because their team and fandom is a part of their identity and a big source of pride.  When someone like Bryce comes in and is given chance after chance after chance after proving he is not worthy of the position he’s being gifted, and he continues to be the biggest reason above any that we are losing, yeah…  I think it’s fair to call a spade a spade.  Am I saying Bryce the person is trash?  Bryce the person is a piece of poo?  Absolutely not.     I came up in an era, especially in basketball, where if you were fuging up people heckled the poo out of you.  I played in rec leagues as a teen where the fuging parents were calling kids trash and yelling poo like “TURNOVER!!!  TURNOVER!!!”  “CANT DRIBBLE!”  “CANT SHOOT!”  And that’s adults screaming that poo to kids like we were in the fuging Rucker lol.🤣🤣🤣  I went on to play basketball at a collegiate level and with professional players in different settings.  What those experiences as a kid taught me was to see if there is any merit to what people are saying, and if there is, then work my ass off til they can’t say that anymore.  Come back better, tougher, harder.  And I did.  If kids can figure that poo out, an adult calling another adult who is bad at his job while making millions and millions of dollars will be just fine.
    • I have tried to like this team, lord knows I have tried. BY9 is a nice young man, if I had a daughter he can take her to prom, but he ain't QB1 and he's not Cam or Delhomme Chuba is a average RB, he isn't Stephen Davis, he isn't J-Stew McMillan has the makings of a good WR, but he isn't 89/Moose D. Brown is a great player, but if the game was on the line I want Kris Jenkins       I miss this brand of football, even in the bad Jake games the games were entertaining It has been nearly 8 years now of watching numb football
    • I'm not so sure. Something about the whole Frank/Bryce situation seemed off from day 1. Bryce didn't fit Frank's QB mold as well as Stroud, then he basically gives up when Bryce is named starter in preseason but gets virtually no reps in games. Then he looks completely unprepared and Dalton steps in in Seattle, has a decent game under immense pressure, and it's right back to Bryce. All his mechanics are terrible and he's having the worst rookie season ever and Frank doesn't bench him?  You dont have to be a conspiracy theorist to know Bryce wasn't ready to be a day 1 starter. Everything with Bryce, then coaches, and the FO seemed forced.
