even if you got the DBs to play man....the athletic QBs situationally make it a poor call pretty often. 

 

you can still press in zones and tangle up the receiver before you release him to the next level. ideally horn is a guy who takes away some of those quick hitter options and forces the QB to look for another man.

this could be game changing on passing downs.

No doubt.  Disrupting WRs off the line is something we haven’t done well enough....and is one of those big little things.   Horn is great when you let him do what he does.  

I just think the outrage to that post is more the grading than the commentary on Horn though.

It's PFF. If it isn't naked stats they are more likely to be wrong then anything else. Their opinions are so touted now but largely crap. 

Also, for a site that gives fake grades they give an average for a grade? Just lol

They didn't have the personnel for man coverage so they didn't run it...but they wanted to.

Now they do... so they will.

Shouldn't be this complicated.

True, however our FO believes we have one in the form of Sam Darnold. Just Something that we as fans will have to understand and deal with.

Norman was not a complete CB. Corner has been an issue since Gamble was here.

Yep. I used them a lot when I played FFB years back just because they had the best data. 

I liked that all they did was stats. Interpretation of those stats has been a massive fail.

I felt better about the pick once I realized that somewhere before the draft, Horn's pre-draft assessment got a thumbs up from Luke Kuechly.

Norman had a fantastic and dominant season.   But it was largely an anomaly.   But it was really fun to watch.   Those first years were pretty dang rough.  And he hasn't looked very good away from Carolina. 

Gamble was our last legit DB we had on the outside.  In terms of multiple years and consistency.  Peanut and Lucas both put in a strong single season of play.
