My thought here is that this is a way for Fritter to fill the roster on the  cheap .

But also this allows Rhule to grow a culture of young guys on his team. Rhule got a lot of players to over achieve last year. If he gets the young back ups to buy in then we will be a very competitive team.

Fill the roster taking more shots having competition.. I swear ppl cried about not doing this before..

For those wondering why fans are skeptical of collecting this many late round picks.

They are skeptical because there’s no way to keep this many rookies on a roster or practice squad without getting picked clean. Also, the rookies selected this late generally will not be NFL level players and even low talent veterans will be better to fill the roster with.

It’s too many rookies to try and develop. They will need to trade these picks for a veteran or for picks next year.

On the flip side, here's our current roster: https://www.ourlads.com/nfldepthcharts/depthchart/CAR

I can find 11 guys I'd cut from that without batting an eyelid.

Churning the bottom of the roster.  How many time has Rhule said that?

    • The aversion to tying up too much money in the ground game around when it’s what’s winning us games is crazy to me. I get letting Rico walk if you think he’s easily replaceable but I don’t see many people arguing that, just applying an arbitrary salary cap based on what we think RBs are currently worth. I’d rather be stuck with Hubbard as an overpaid backup (not the worst one to have, mind you) than lose out on the most productive player on the offense personally.
    • Why do people keep saying things like “it’s not Young’s fault we spent so much to draft him”? Who cares if it’s his fault?  Nobody is saying send him to jail or anything.  People aren’t talking about blame for the decision to draft him, they’re talking about how bad he is as a QB and how we’d be much better with even an average QB.  Pointing out that we sunk a lot of resources into drafting him isn’t invalidated because he didn’t make that decision himself. Doesn’t matter whose fault that was, he’s still not playing like a QB who was drafted at all, much less one that cost two firsts, two seconds and a #1 WR.
