Observations:

 

Greg Little not even mentioned as a possibility starting at LT. 

Freeing up Chinn to play more in the secondary (joker?) Is a good thing.

Offensive line is going to be very, very fluid throughout OTAs and offseason. Take any lineup info with a grain of salt. They will try everyone everywhere.

It's possible that we have a solid 3 cornerback depth with rookies and second year players improving behind them. That's a huge improvement.

Just looking at the offensive lineman on this roster, we have a lot of young guys to learn about and older guys with experience. Your probably looking at Paradis and Moton locked in at center and RT. After that anything could happen. 

I would gladly take Greg Little developing into a guard over nothing at all. Then you have guys like Elflein, Miller, and Erving that could keep the young guys on the bench.

The one thing we can say is the backups to our starters won't be untested or undrafted. If the LT missing a game means we get to see Brady Christensen develop...we will take that over watching Nate Chandler develop.

People lost their minds when I said the Panthers have mortgaged their future on Sam Darnold, then Gantt of Panthers.com writes...

The Panthers did a lot of things over the weekend to make Darnold's life more secure. That's good news, but it also puts the bright light back on their quarterback.

By not drafting one, and picking up Darnold's fifth-year option, they've cast their lot with the former Jets first-rounder, and done their best to insulate him. Now it's on him to prove that he can grow into the job and earn that trust. It may not be New York, but there's still plenty of pressure.

That's NFL political talk for "mortgaging the future".

Nobody mortgaged the future on Darnold.  Mortgaging the future would have been trading 4 first rounders for Watson or to move up in the draft to take a QB.

By forgoing the opportunity to draft a franchise QB we did mortgage the future on Darnold. Ultimately, this draft will be judged by A) whether Darnold pans out and B) whether Fields and/or Jones become legit franchise QBs. If Darnold continues to be bad while one or both of them prove legit then oh wee mayne. Not a good look and not good news for the future of the franchise.

If Darnold sucks, we will be right back in this same spot next year, looking to upgrade via trade or one of the top QBs in the draft...with plenty of cap space and all our draft picks.  IMO, this is hardly a mortgaging of the future, but I see what you are getting at.

      Boy the flyers look good early. Lots of bad plays and slow start by our team. Hope that changes before the score changes.

      I guess I should have stipulated outside the sacred cow.   I complained from year one that Bryce should compete for and win the starting job on his own merit but no he was just handed it. I have been right there with everyone that wants competition.  But I don’t really have a huge problem with it for this season the way it has gone because where are the viable people we don’t have to trade for? I actually am okay with tiny hands Pickett because he is so close to Bryce arm strength wise and to be honest, skill wise. Probably. And it is only a one year deal.  That also takes into account that the QB class is looking stacked next year and if Young fails miserably then we get either a reset or a real competition and there will be more guys that I would like looking at in the FA QB class next year as well.    I sort of accept where we are this year and look at it as another treading water year (at QB). I just want to get to next year with some clarity. More than anything. And they did empty out the room (behind him anyway). Again, who was really there for us?  And I know it would not be a true competition at this point anyway. They are giving him the year, like it or not.    Also I don’t give a poo about winning games IF he sucks and or goes down after sucking because draft position and that stacked QB class.  And I want out from under him So Bad.     So I guess it is several factors that lessen my anxiety over his backup this particular season.    I am not trying to convince anyone, but you asked. That’s how I look at it.
