I still think Horn makes more immediate impact but this was great to see

6. Brady Christensen, OT, Panthers

Have to get one offensive linemen in here, and I didn't want it to be a first-round pick. Too obvious. Quietly, Christensen is the likely Week 1 starter for the Panthers at left tackle, protecting Sam Darnold. Sure, he'll battle it out with 2019 second-round pick Greg Little, but the former Ole Miss star hasn't come close to meeting expectations early in his NFL career and has no connections to the current Carolina staff.

Christensen's BYU film was pretty darn clean. And it should have been for a 24-year-old blocker with 38 games on his college resume. He moves well for his size and was a quality battler in pass protection with high-end balance.

Horn has the highest expectation and with the loss of Samuel I see Marshall having a huge impact as well.  Christensen is gravy IMO.

Don’t like to see two Falcons on the list.

Had the same thought but I think on a comparative basis, we’ve improved our roster more than the Falcons did this offseason.  Will be interesting to see if our W/L record improves more than the Falcons. Rubber meet road.

So, how much of Wilson’s success was Wilson and how much was Christensen protecting his blind side and giving him a clean pocket to operate from?  Is he better than consensus and his draft position would suggest?  Can’t recall many third round rookie LT starting week 1.

True, but I think Horn and Marshall will also have immediate impact

Horn sort of has to have an immediate impact as a #8 pick. I don't mean that as in being an All Pro player(although that would be great). He just needs to be able to start the whole season and not be a problem.

I am trying to lower my year one expectations for him because traditionally CB's struggle for a couple of seasons before the light comes on. If he is simply average in the first year and shows flashes of being great, that will be a great start.

    • Cam was hitting his stride as a QB in 2017/2018.     This is why I think stats like completion percentage are overrated. As long as a QB is clutch and makes the throws to win the game the rest doesn’t really matter. What good is a check down stat padder if they’re a choker.  Until Norv Turner (and briefly Chud) got here we put Cam in high pressure throwing situations all the time. We also ran the ball on first down more than most teams in the NFL in the Ron era. Coupled with shitty WRs, all that is expressed in his stats. I also assume Cam took the ball in his hands on many occasions rather than trust Funchess to catch the ball.    It was also never Cams job to play the game like someone else. His presence on the field dictated the game in a way that is rarely seen.  He showed he could play the dink and dunk game just before TJ Watt. That didn’t suddenly make him better than his earlier seasons. He just got put in a legit under center  passing game again for first time since his rookie year with Chud.    Ron took the quickest path to success and abused the RPO because his ass was about to get fired.    Cam never got the credit for being the cerebral player that he was. I just think when you are legitimately a human Superman, sometimes the best play is having the ball in your hands. He was a better passer than Delhomme was.
    • I don't think Canales has any problem benching Bryce or moving on if Bryce doesn't come out playing like the end of last year.  It's year 3 no more excuses for Bryce
    • Yea Bryce was definitely a top half qb the second half of last season but I'm not sure Canales is 100% sold on him.  Like I've said in another post I think that's part of why we talked to so many South Carolina players in the draft process.  I think they are doing early due diligence on Sellers just in case.
