Robby Anderson being shopped?

This is a guy that Rhules wife absolutely loves and cried about when he signed here with joy. Id be shocked if this was true.... Robby says he wants to end his career here and that money "isn't everything to him" He would rather be in a good situation w his former coach. Now if we can't make it work money wise I could see, but in my opinion we will likely do anything we can to sign him long term.

I hope that ends up being true. But, it's hard to have feelings in the NFL. That business is cutthroat as hell.

You keep your sources by not blabbing their names all over the media.

Of course, but keeping them anonymous allows for strategic manipulation of sports reporters without any consequences.

I mean, if I'm an executive/staff member with another team and want to fug with the Panthers a little, I'll call one of these reporters and put a bug in their ear about Carolina being open to trading Anderson.

Next thing you know Robbie's got a chip on his shoulder coming into camp, maybe with any luck, things spiral out of control from there.

Is that how it went down?  Who knows?  And that's the point.

Sure but that has always existed. It's a two way street. If you use a reporter, they are less likely to trust you in the future and vice versa.

The biggest issue, IMO, is the push to be first. That is where you get the biggest BS being spread with little filter. Case in point, someone like Rappaport that immediately is tweeting single source unverified info once it hits his ears. That's why while he gets some great info, he also puts a lot of BS out there. This isn't the case with what they are saying. They are literally reporting something that happened almost a month ago.

Is there a chance his sources are wrong? Certainly. Perhaps this was not firsthand info and it was second hand info, for instance.

The error that many fans commonly make is just simply dismissing information because they just don't like what they are hearing.

Is agree, especially since he and Darnold seem to have good chemistry.

But hey, that's football.

Actually, that's not football.   That's just dumb GM'ing.

I mean...you take away the ONE player whom Sam has had ANY chemistry with?

The ONE player who can help give him a target where he know his tendencies and all that?

I do not believe Fitt is THAT stupid and I sure as hell do not believe Walter Football or whomever did that "report"(tweet).

Joe Brady’s scheme is going to make WRs look good.  Which Robbie and Samuel are likely examples of that in some fashion.  So it could just be an opportunity to sell high.

Makes me curious about Robbie’s actual take on his old Jet QB following him though.  If this is true.  I mean he was glad to get away from it.   Wonder if there is something to that dynamic.

So what you're implying is that Robbie wants to leave the Panthers because of Sam Darnold?

That's a bit of a stretch at this point.

Robby Anderson just turned 28

Secondly all are rookie wr's are going to be on cheap contracts for the next 4 years. Pretty sure we could resign him to a reasonable 2 year extension. I'd much rather keep him then get some crappy 6th round compensatory pick.

That's actually very reasonable, the guy join because of Rhule.

He could want to leave because of Sam.

Throw out the chemistry crap, Sam is a QB and Robbie a WR, not hard to play catch. Hell Robbie made Sam look decent to be honest.

Now Robby puts up his best numbers with Teddy, and tell him Watson being looked at, or maybe Stafford. Then it's Fields, Lance, Jones, a little talk if Wilson. But they traded for Sam, he was very quiet about that trade because the draft still hasn't happened. But then they pass on Fields, so it's known Sam the guy. Yeah, the only person in the building who knows Sam best is ready to pack his bags...smh...but we'll see.

I like how if he does dislike Sam in anyway he's being very mature for a athlete.

Robby gets traded then pulls a Teddy and says he didn't like the Sam trade, rather stuck with Teddy the huddle going have a meltdown...lmao

After he left the jets he took a swing at them and Sam...

The only reason I could see us not resigning him next year is because DJs in a contract year too, and since he's home grown, younger, and balling, they might not be up to the prospect of paying 2 wide receivers 10+million contracts.

I'd hate to see him go, so I hope it doesn't come to this.

There is no way we’re resigning him if Marshall or Shi show promise. I expect him to have another pretty good year. He’s going to be 29 though. So, I could see him cashing in on two good years with Brady and getting a 4 year deal for his last contract. Won’t be with the Panthers tho. So makes sense if Fitterer is trying to build to get something for him.

Yeah- I think FIT realizes that Robbie will probably have another good year especially with a QB who can push the ball down the field and RB like CMAC who will keep the defensive honest and be the keyed on offensive player. It will be tough to pay Robbie what he could be worth next year. We will probably have to let him walk.

Robbie had a lot of value before the draft as a trade piece (in most other years), but we probably couldn't get what FIT wanted because of how loaded the draft was this year with WRs.

I'm glad he's still here for another year, I hope he balls out, we win a lot of games and he and the team figures something out on an extension to keep him around if possible.

I’m just saying the story makes no sense.  But if were true….I think you have to ask questions about the why?  That’s all.  Because there would have to a why.

My best guess was the first one.   Just selling high because Joe Brady’s scheme inflates WRs.  Saw it with Samuel.   So you get something for Robbie because you know you aren’t going to spend money on what his stats might suggest down the road.

if that isn’t it? Well, I’d still wonder about the reality of Sam coming here.  Given he was the QB of the bad scenario Robbie got out away from . Maybe Robbie is just PC publicly.  Lots of guys are like that.

The story is that the GM was looking to trade him, not that Anderson was looking to be traded.

And heck, we're not even sure that story is true.
