I would like to say that it's Training Camp. The Jets can't hide Wilson, there's nowhere he can hide. Unless they want to do private practices, folks are going to see him play.

I may suck for the kid, but he still has to ride it out. Sam rode that ride, and came out the other side just fine.

As to that bolded part? I was just thinking about that. How much help would a Vet QB actually make? A few suggestions here and there? This is Sam's 4th year. He IS the Vet QB.

Exactly he had his vet QB when McCown was around in NY.

He needs a QB Coach to fix his footwork, not a friendly vet QB backup to lean on for advice. Thankfully he's got that now.

I get having a Vet for a young QB. But Sam is basically the Vet QB now. Like I said. How much can another QB help him at this point? A handful of times a year?

I get having a back-up that can win you a few games here and there. But I am not sure Sam needs a Mentor at this stage of his career.

The only thing he needs right now is a qb coach and Joe Brady in his ear 24/7.  Something he's never had.

I think we're going to get to see how Teddy and Sam do this year both in charge of new teams.

The coaches have said the preseason results are going to determine the battle and that’s it’s been 50/50 in camp this far. Lock gets the first start. Teddy will get the second. Teddys experience should have him taking the job from turnover prone Lock but they have been rotating good and bad practices. It’s not a good look for either guy.

Exactly on the button. Sam has been killing it since the pads went on. Talent+Coaching=Success. And I for one am as giddy as I have ever been for a season to start. I tell ya what.

I wish Zod and the rest were able to give us more info from training camp like times past, but what I have seen has me giddy as you say

I know right?  I just can't wrap my  mind around that.  They mortgage the team's future by spending a 1st, and three  2nd round picks to trade up 3 spots for a QB to "save the franchise", but don't bother to pay for a QB coach for your new rookie QB.  Its mind boggling.

Zach Wilson is and always was a nonstarter for me. The flavor of the month! I always thought Trey Lance was the better option, and I'm sticking to it.

The more interesting question is whether we passed up on a potential franchise QB in Fields. By most accounts, he's looked pretty good so far. Darnold has as well. As long as they're on similar trajectories, we're good. As long as Horn balls out, we're good.

Zach Wilson is going to get destroyed in the NFL

    • Just another 1st round QB that never paid off for the team that drafted them or traded for them. It's been like this since the SB began. 36 QBs have now won the SB & only 13 of them have been 1st rounders winning with their original team. Namath 1968, Griese 1972, Bradshaw 1974, McMahon 1985, Simms 1986, Aikman 1992, Elway 1997, Roethlisberger 2005, P.Manning 2006, E.Manning 2007, Rodgers 2010, Flacco 2012, & Mahomes 2019. Only 3 have taken longer than 5 seasons as the starter to win a SB.  4  6  5  4  6  4  15  2  9  4  3  5  2 [the years it takes for these 1st round QBs] 5  1  4  1  3  1  1  2  3  4  [10 of the 36 have won a chip with their 1st team that haven't been drafted in the 1st round. These are the years it took them as a starter] What stands out? Only 2 of these QBs have lost their first championship appearance. Elway took 4 years as a 1st rounder & Hurts took 2 years as a 2nd rounder. Of the 10 non-1st round QBs, 2 are 2nd rounders, 3 are 3rd rounders, 5 are 6th rounders or later. Please stop wasting time on drafting 1st round QBs with such a high failure rate. The remaining 13 QBs are traded or free agent signings. Stafford, Favre, Young, Williams and Dawson are the 5 trades. Peyton Manning & Tom Brady also won for teams as free agents on a short stay as well as being drafted. The lesson here is don't waste your franchise on farming up 1st rounders for the league, and steer clear of trading for a franchise QB. Stick to finding that championship QB by drafting them outside of the 1st round or through free agency.
    • I lost most of the respect I had for Fox in 2010. He should have resigned if he hated the job that much. Instead he stuck for his paycheck and let stuff go to hell.    I burned out on Ron too but my deal breaker issue with him was away from football and after he was gone from the Panthers. He may have been out of his depth but never quit on us.
    • From where they were one year ago to now, pretty incredible. I mean, say what you want about Vrabel he is no Jerrod Mayo.
