Saints cut Prince Amakamura...hmmm... wonder what's up with him, a seasoned vet couldn't get thru the first game?

From what I've seen, he's not what he once was. And honestly I don't know that he was ever anything special.

Cool name, but that's about it.

I understand that there are busts, but how bad was Hurney?  If you recall the whispers after draft day:

1. Marty tried to trade up to get Little.  he was nearly a first rounder.

2. Marty tried to trade up to pick #33 to get Jimmy Clausen. Could not believe it when Clausen "fell" to him.

3.  Marty traded up for Armanti Edwards, giving NE the 33rd pick in the draft.

Marty was so bad, he helped us get Cam.

Oh, and about that--Marty wanted Darcel Darius; Rivera wanted Cam.  Rivera won the debate.

Great at picking stud 1st Rounders....absolutely dreadful at everything else it takes to be a competent GM.

Rumors said he offered our 2011 first rounder to move up to #33. Thank goodness they said no. Our 2011 first rounder turned out to be a pretty good player.

I'm not going to worry about what if's.  There's just too many variables to consider.  The fact that they are trying to cover as many of those "what if" as the can gives me some hope there's a plan at least.

Is it a good plan though? Which is better? Having a bunch of guys that can do a little of every position or having great guys that play one position?

    • I don’t know about floor in a team defense sense but we needed more.  The floor that I am familiar with is our QBs floor and it is so low that every other part of the team needs to be beefed up.     We tried our best to improve these things and I think we did improve the defense and we at least kept the offense  from sinking from no LT.  And ostensibly helped the receivers too.   So we kept a window open that we at least have a chance to improve our record by a game of two.  Which would probably give us the division.

    • Yeah. I am one of. those who think a JAG RB can eat with really good blocking. (Brooks is most important in my mind, in tbe passing game and that is what we’ll lose without him)  There are a lot of aspects to this. The big one that caused us to struggle is Young and his arm scared no one.  Best back, best blocking still cannot defeat a really good defense if they are not forced to respect the pass.  And teams did not.    But, a strong OL and running game Can get us over against weaker defenses.  And if Bryce still doesn’t scare anyone we can still win some games. Like last year  So it is really important to tend to that OL.   Get that straight and see if in his fourth year he can finally back defenses off. That is what if is all about this year to me, on the Bryce front.
