Been watching Christensen and Brown all night. They are by far the most competent linemen on the field not named Moton.

At some point they will have to start Moton on the left because the drop off on the right will be less significant than the improvement on the left.

Yeah, the math just works out that way.

Can you imagine how pissed Moton could be if after signing his big extension they tell him he’s playing LT? If it works this could be the best move our FO has ever made.

He should be mad at his agent if he did not put some escalation clauses into the deal if that happens.  TE/WR agents used to argue that--if the TE was out wide more than tight...Not sure how that all works, however.

There was a comment around earlier that he has a clause in his contract - he gets a bonus for every snap he takes at LT.

Penei Sewell struggling at RT right now for the Lion's so look on the bright side. Rookies take time at T in the NFL and looking better then a top 10 can't miss pick counts for something I would think.

I liked Brown the 1st gm and think he held up ok this game just give him a yr and I think he competes for the RG spot.

I'm not surprised by that - I never understood the hype around Sewell. He doesn't have elite length and is raw as hell.

Sounds like a good time to trade that 7th we got for Little for him.

Been telling people this, I felt it was dumb when Rivera and Hurney locked Moton into RT when Daryl Williams got hurt when they tried to force him to play LT coming off his injury.

It should have been back then - Moton / Reed & someone else went to NYJ / Paradis / Turner / Williams

Now it should be - Moton / Elflein / Paradis / Brown / Christensen -- Erving, Scott, Daley, and Miller as the key reserves.

I think that unit gives us the best ''all around'' offensive line.

Sewell hasn't played football in a year (opted out for COVID) and the Lions are asking him to change from LT to RT. It's not surprising at all that's he's struggling a little bit.

    • I’m not mad at Moehrig.  He’s great at what he does.  And to be honest, a lot of my favorite safeties in our history were box-first type guys - Maxie, Minter, Mike Mitchell, Chris Harris…  they’re first and foremost objective was to put people on their backs and coverage was secondary.  There is a place for that.  There is a definite need for that.  Physical guys that set the tone.  So cool, we have that in Moerhig. But what we have lacked for the vast majority of our existence is a true free safety that cleans everything up on the back end.  Sometimes they come in the form of a JOAT, like Peppers.  I think he would be a fantastic compliment to Moehrig’s strengths and weaknesses.  If we don’t go after him, I certainly hope Ransom is given the chance to grow and develop in real-time with real game reps, because what he did in preseason was very encouraging to see.  I hope he can grow into that roaming center fielder with a little bit of an edge to him as an enforcer as well.  He has the tools.  In the meantime, adding Peppers would only help.
    • Option 1 is most likely. Even if he kills it this year, it wouldn't be prudent to rush an extension for one good season. If you have to pay him more because you waited another year, then he earned it. And that's OK. Adjust accordingly.
    • Cam had the advantage of having a very strong supporting cast his first 2 seasons. Things definitely worsened later on. But those first couple of years can kill a QB. Some never truly recover. If they do recover it takes years, and usually with another team. Trying to learn to be an NFL QB with TEs and WRs that are trying to learn too is a recipe for disaster. Imagine if Cam's rookie season was that 2014 offensive squad. Changes everything! I said it when they moved up in 2023. This team wasn't ready for a rookie QB yet. Anyone that thinks Stroud would have been a lot better is delusional. The correct formula is to build a strong team and then you go get your rookie QB. Not the other way around. BY is going into his third season and we're still trying to put a respectable group of WRs and TEs around him. I think they have the right personnel now. Unfortunately they haven't developed into actual NFL players yet.  This season we should expect consistency and aggressiveness from BY. Mostly for his development but also to DEVELOP his young cast.
