this is the first time in years i've spent money on the panthers and not ended up with a bitter taste in my mouth

I'm 80% wrapped on a film I'm shooting and after a three-year sprint to get here I needed a breather. Plus signing what amounts to Netflix deal this week demanded a celebration. So I flew to St. Lucia.

Last night, as kickoff approached, I, marooned on a faraway beach, found myself caught between two choices: go out and find a bar and eat and drink and socialize and get hit on by voracious cougars from the sandals resort up the road, or drop $50 on high speed data to watch the panthers eat ass instead. Crossing my fingers and dumping international data on my plan, I chose the latter.

Imagine my surprise when I caught myself, for the briefest moment, wondering which regular season game this was. Through the cigar smoke it looked like a November matchup playing out on the screen of my iPhone.

Who's the ginger cringer in 14? Holy poo, he settled in and threw two touchdowns and ripped out frozen ropes on those first-down outs that made cam so good. Who in the sweet fug is number 2 and why is he- oh my god that's DJ Moore! He looks good. Why is Muhsin Muhammed wearing number 88? Wait! That's a fuging ROOKIE. Who's that intercepting that ba- OH MY GOD IT'S BRIAN BURNS. And how did the Panthers get Raymond Cruz to kick for them? Who the fug is running the Panthers now and why weren't they here a decade ago?

It's an imperfect team, and the interior line has to be addressed, and the jury is still realistically out on Darnold, but hot god damn if I didn't find myself dousing the remainder of my cigar and heading inside feeling like choosing the Carolina Panthers over a hangover and regretful decisions with a plastic 40-something divorcee from New Jersey was the right decision. More of this please.

A cheaper version of SCP, but I’ll take it!!

Well it is just pre-season, so I may have just chosen the plastic something divorcee from Jersey. There are a still few gems available from the 40 something selection pool.

Now, if we are are talking about the regular season, then that would be a entirely different story.

How many people are members here who have yet to get the PhillyB experience? This is what I came here for 10 years ago; the PhillyB ESPECIAL!

Now, we need our weekly Thursday or Friday post back Philly.

Also, that was the smoothest I've seen a Panthers QB look since Steve Burlein.

We should all start adding my career status spiels before posts.

As I wrap up some lvl21 and 22 plans for a mid rise, I thought..Panthers. Just got done with a floating session and morning meditation and am about to sip the most delicious cup of Oregon mushroom tea. And thought..Panthers

I love this teams potential and I love that we have a competent GM and a HC willing to make changes to better the team. I hate listening to 99.9 the fan where Adam Gold constantly trashes the team and HC after sucking off Rivera for years. Same thing with Joe Giglio and Joe Ovies. The Joes are more blatant about their dislike of the coaches and FO. I have to turn it off sometimes.

    • A winning record would be nice, but I still have us winning around the 6 to 8 game mark. Realistically we should beat the Jets and Saints, that gets us to 5 wins. After that, we have to face a lot of potential play off teams and our divisional opponents. I think we’ll win 1 or 2 of those games to take us to 6 or 7 wins, perhaps 8 wins if we can spring a further surprise.  Is that enough progress for head coach and QB? I’m not sure, it will depend on performances and output. That said, it’s nice to be back in a position where we are thinking about the play offs.
    • I would tend to agree about not falling into the trap and paying a below average QB, but sometimes situations can “force” a team to pay that QB. For example, if we play ourselves into a 9-8 like record, then what options will we have in the draft? Or do we avoid the draft and trade for or sign someone in free agency?  I’m not convinced by the 2026 QB draft class. There’s some intriguing prospects but no one that really screams “draft me”. I’m not sure we’ve got anyone really that stands out as a trade candidate or free agent signing. So although we might not want to commit a big money contract to Young, him playing well and showing progress might force the team’s hand.
    • Realistically we would be looking at no more than a mid round pick for Dowdle or Chuba. Are we really that desperate for a mid round pick? Not really. I would much prefer us utilise the two RBs in a 1-2 punch similar to how we used D-Will and Stewart. After all, Bryce is not Drew Brees. He won’t throw for 300+ yards and carry the team consistently as a passer. So having a strong running game with a 1-2 punch will be beneficial to him, and it will also be beneficial to the RBs because we can spell them and not overwork them.
