But the protocols for unvaccinated players who catch covid are much stricter than for vaccinated players who catch covid.

This is true.

But why?

Vaccinated covid-positive++ players...

...who as you highlight are are subject to protocols much less restrictive than unvaccinated covid-positive++...

...can just as easily spread the virus "to the kid who has cancer down the road"...

...as @Snake says.

Seems like any player who is covid-positive++ should be subject to the exact same protocols regardless of their vaccination status.

The irony is that for ps players it matter much less to the team if they are not vaccinated. Five days out for a close encounter, so what as they are not playing anyway.

That said, if i was a coach in my sixties there is no way I would accept that extra risk for myself, even if I was vaccinated, for a play that far down the roster.

Not necessarily.

Tldr; vaccinated folks can transmit the delta variant should they have a breakthrough case, however they are not only less likely to be hospitalized and/or die but the vaccines are shown to be crucially effective in surviving and containing the spread of the delta variant.

Using circular logic, I can see how an anti-vaxxer can help themselves believe what you proposed. However, anybody with a shred of intelligence can see how stupid that line of thinking is.

Here comes the Tucker Carlson fan club who would rather see people die than just take a shot. I swear I really can't wait till they just stop asking and force you guys to provide protection to everyone. Its a shame it has to come to this.

Question, why do you keep saying Tucker Carlson Fan Club? I don't watch FOX news and have the same views as some of them you say. Who do I watch you ask? I'll tell you.. Spike Cohen, Michael Tracey, Liberterain Party Mises Caucus, An0Maly, Joe Rogan, Dave Smith... Also, you do realize it is not just people who are a certain political party who are skeptical of the Vaccine right? and before you say it... Yes, I am fully Vaccinated since January.

In truth, the NFL's plans and rules dealing with Covid are basically wishful thinking. Right now, everyone wants to make every effort to keep working that it's all going to be business as usual, full slate of games, fans in attendance, no make-up games.

If you look at the spread going on now, and realize that there are other variants lining up behind Delta and will emerge, then we're going to have to be prepared for a season like last year, even with the vaccinations.

No one wants it, but conditions are that we're just trying to hold another shut down at bay for as long as we can. Come November, December, it's going to get bad.

Let's not turn this thread into another idiotic pissing match with anti-vaxxers.

My intent is to highlight the competitive advantages of being fully vaccinated and the fact that two of our divisional rivals are going to have that.. The other "real world" aspects of COVID, vaccines, etc have been hashed out dozens of times in here and then the threads summarily sent to the TB or locked.

Why don't we just focus on the FOOTBALL aspects of the subject, since the rest of those issues have been beaten to death.

    • Biiiiiig eyeroll on this.  First, Look at historical stats of the most recent historical great DBs.  I plucked 3, Revis, Sherman, and Norman (cuzz he was our guy).  Combined post age 30, there are TWO pro bowls between those 3 and wanna get this...ZERO seasons with 16 games started.  ALL missed time.  It is RARE that Corners survive that long in the NFL and its about time we started recognizing this fact.  Jaycee is a good bet because it hasnt been anything seriously devastating injury wise, and with his sample size he could and should be an incredible piece for the panthers through age 30. Jaire kinda flops on the other side, hes 28...so hes under 30, but he wants his payday before it comes up, hes also been injury prone lately.  Bulk of the contract will be on opposite side of 30.  Will both of these guys help us be better in 2026?  SURE!  No doubt, but the question is, will these guys help us past 2026...not sure. The investment isnt worth the risk, nor would the ROI be anywhere close to worth it.  Neither guy is moving us from a 6-8 win team to a 8-10 team, period. My point is we're in this state a 6-8 win team IMO and he projects us as  a 4-6 win team.  EVEN if we think Jaire or Ramsey will make us a 6-8 win team, it in NO WAY is worth the money or capital to move that much just to suck kinda less.
    • I assumed he was retiring but apparently he plans on playing multiple more seasons.  Florida is gonna have trouble holding onto everyone.  Happens to all teams that have that much success.
    • I hate Marchand, but if he became a free agent.....
