Too much CMC, bad coaching, will take the W.

absolutely agree

I'd like to see some of the CMC screens go to the TE.  Get Arnold / Tremble / Thomas several catches each per game.   And some redzone success with them as well.

Getting the TE involved would take a lot of pressure off of this offense.

I agree... the way Olsen was a factor. Would be huge in the red zone. I think Arnold is a good, could be great TE, Darnold has to build that chemistry. Play calling will help!

Coaching was bad…but Darnold also missed a few throws in the second half where plays were there to be made…big plays.  Moore also had a couple Drops that were inexcusable.

loved that we won…but it just feels like a loss for some reason.  We went backwards in the second half in all aspects of the game.  Their adjustments worked, ours didn’t.  They made the hustle plays, we didn’t.  They played to win, we didn’t.  If that happens against most teams in the NFL, we lose.

I really wanted the D to go for the jugular in the beginning of the second half and just shut the Jets completely down.   But we clearly eased up and the Jets stuck around until the end of the game.   That's not what great teams do.  They deliver the knockout punch as soon as they can to just demoralize the other squad.

I don't know if it was soft playcalling or if the players relaxed a bit.   But the Panthers didn't have the aggressive attitude in the 2nd half as much.

Agree.  We got soft on both sides of the ball.  Can’t win consistently like that.

I think they got scared that Darnold would make a mistake so they fed CMC in the second half.

Really wanted to see them trust him to throw the daggers needed to put them away early. Hopefully the sheltering won’t last all season.

Yea…we were up 16-0 and defense was playing lights out

He had 121 yards at halftime,  besides for a few big plays to WR's he was the offense in the first half and then they went away from it and couldn't execute for some reason.

that last sack up the middle by brown on Wilson lifted my spirits

I’m talking about the second half when telegraphed every play to CMC.

If Darnold is really the guy then we’re gonna have to lean on him at some point to put the game away. This should have been a blowout victory.

C’mon guys. You don’t open up the playbook week 1 so everyone knows what you can do.

A simple run game could beat the Jet so they went with that.

It’s the smart thing to do.

I don't know if this is sarcasm or not, but regardless, I agree. A vanilla game plan was enough to beat the Jets. That, combined with Sam had a whole half of a preseason game to get into the flow with his guys, I can see them wanting to make this more of a shake off the rust kind of game. I choose to believe we have a more aggressive playbook for our very real competition with NO next week.

    • Not in same league. Caldwell just hit a 10.00 on the RAS. 2nd out of 3830 from 1987 onward.  https://x.com/MathBomb/status/2027885023387349047 Yeah I mean Louis had a sub 9.00 RAS. Still very very good, no doubt. Louis is small, no 2 ways about it. He is likely a sub package lb in nickel packages or specialized WLB. Be fine ST gunner to start for sure. 6 foot flat and 220lb is pushing it for a starting LB. At 10 to 20lbs less than the other LBs he'd better be closer to the top in most timed drills. He's gonna be challenged when some of the wrs in the class can matchup bigger stronger faster, much less TE in the run game.  Yeah instinct matter and he has them, but that size is a massive red flag compared to many of the other LBS in this class.    Rodriguez is the LB that really climbed this week from a pure grit guy to great flash with athleticism people wrote off cause he was a QB at first at UVA. 18.4mph in the backpedal. Production the last 2 years were great. I'd be thrilled with him as the future mike.   Hill likely moved out of 51 and into the top 45 picks ( Ravens at 45 I can't imagine don't bite if he makes it there). Honestly Hill imo is a 1st rounder and I'd be ok with him as he fits the MLB we have missed the last few years. People would crow it's a reach but he's top 30 all-time I'm RAS for a LB at 9.9+ . Plus he was big time in big games when he was healthy. And that br a big check: meds.
    • Miller, Melo, Coby, Moose, and Bridges all on the floor at the same time must be a nightmare for defenses lol. Switch one out for Kon and still a nightmare. Coby really does bring a true 6th man value and looks like he could start if Melo was out after only a few games of getting his feet wet.
