Defensive team stats - impressive

Said this in another thread but I went back and checked last year and it took 7 games for us to get 6 sacks last year. The secondary was credited for at least one coverage sack in that bunch today too, which was unheard of last year.

This is a significantly improved defense from last year. The dline has better depth, Reddick adds another pass rush threat, Tahir Whitehead is gone, and the secondary looks legit.

If our offense starts clicking we are a real playoff team.

We have more talent on defense and our DC isn't a poo bag. You can see how quick they are too which is great to see. Was tired of seeing even when we had some good defenses we used to be slow on the back end.

My question is how bad are the Packers? It looks on paper like New Orleans was completely dominant against what should have been an excellent team (based on prior performance). Or did Green Bay look like a team collapsing on itself under the weight of the Aaron Rodgers singularity?

you didn't watch it I take it? Aaron Rodgers looked completely disinterested from the moment of the first snap he doesn't look like he wants to play football anymore.... The rest of the team followed suite.

Zach Wilson completed 15 of 21 passes for 149 yards, a touchdown, and an interception when not facing pressure in Week 1 against Carolina.

No QB was pressured more often than Wilson in Week 1. The Jets offensive line was overwhelmed time and again against a middling Panthers front seven.

Leaving this here.

Middling front 7?  Are they fuging serious?

Thanks, no I didn't get a chance to see it. I think he's out to sink the organization until he gets traded somewhere. Not our team, not my worry.

But it might mean that New Orleans is nowhere near as good as that blowout makes them seem.

Or it could mean nothing.

Looked like Rodgers was actively trying to throw the game.  Like seriously, he made some of the worst throws of his entire career yesterday, and that is not hyperbole.

here is the next line....But when Wilson was kept clean in the pocket, he (mostly) picked apart the Carolina secondary -- enough to turn around a dreadful first half performance in his debut.

Thats absolutely absurd.  He was running for his life the entire game, and did not pick apart a damn thing.

We will see, I can tell you Rodgers definitely seemed more interested in not getting hit than making a play and had none of his usual fire... I don't think NO can run for 175 on us so we can bring out bad Jameis.

I'd agree with this.  That second half, we gave them those yards with soft zone.  Most teams do not give the opponent a whole half of garbage time free yardage, but you know, Panthers and all that we are.

especially when your leader wants to go to Denver.

Conspiracies aside, The Packers are talented, but this is still the same defense that let Kyle Allen light them up a coupla years back by and large.  Packs' D has always been slightly overrated as of late. They'll get it together, but I expect them to be a Wild Card team with all the drama surrounding them lack of WR out of DA, and an O-Line that's getting worse.

Saints are the Saints. D.Allen is a great defensive coordinator, Sean Peyton is an offensive genius. fug em, but they're still still competent.

Jameis ain't Brees tho

Regardless... We are playing the Saints and Rodgers doesn't play on the Saints and definitely doesn't play on the defensive side of the ball. I saw 10 QB pressures (0 TFL, 0 sacks) and I saw 5 TD's still being thrown with 0 turnovers.

Im not sure how our secondary compares to the Packers. I mean I know we can and will generate pressure, but you have to think Sean Payton is really putting Winston in the best position.

Still, I think if we can limit Kamara and force Winston to make more throws than he did against the packers that is the key.
