If I'm not mistaken didn't he interview with some team the year prior to signing with us? Or am I thinking of someone else?

He had and he also interviewed for the HC job that Gase won with the Jets. It's how he first met Darnold and he had an interview/meeting with Darnold during the process.

He interviewed with the Jets before Gase got the job - he references it when talking about Darnold.

He was due to interview with the Giants the year we hired him, but Tepper didn't let him leave without a contract (altho Rhule called the Giants after that and they wouldn't match the offer Tepper made).

He interviewed with the Jets once.

He's taken others and was scheduled more after ours but he took the job. He's also turned down some, like the Bears for instance. Point is that he clearly wasn't against coaching in the NFL.

Bieniemy might hit some road blocks when his past comes up with the recruiting rape scandal in the early 2000s at Colorado.

Rhule could be a possibility but he would have to really not like the NFL plus USC would need to give him a Jimbo Fisher style contract. Hard to see that happening.

Could see Joe Brady being a top candidate though.

this reeks of bullshit

From the article itself...

I get Rece Davis' thinking and maybe Mike Bohn does approach Matt Rhule in that manner but it won't happen. There's no way Matt Rhule leaves the Panthers for USC. Rhule is building something here in Carolina with the youngest team in the league and a ton of potential surrounding it.

Would he have left Baylor for Carolina for the same amount of money?

Why did he spend the majority of his career at the NCAA level never seeking NFL employment?

He spent 1 year in NY and went back to the NCAA. Marty and Tepper went after him not the other way around.

Uhhh he interviewed for the Jets HC vacancy in 2019.  He very obviously wants to be an NFL coach

A college head coach is higher on the profile and earnings than a NFL assistant coach.

I highly doubt Rhule will try for the USC HC job.  The man has been working for an NFL HC job his entire career.  USC is not exactly the most desirable job in college football anymore.  Anyone who gets that job will have their work cut out for them.  USC is no longer the powerhouse it once was.  I mean hell, USC can't even keep top QB prospects in the state anymore.  I.E. Bryce Young, Dj Ugalelei. How are you going to convince prospects like them, that the PAC 12 is where you need to be.  PAC 12 is weak, and an alliance with ACC is only to keep pace with the SEC. So good luck to the next HC at USC.  You're going to need it.

    • Winning games and be a +500 team are good. But the goal is to win Super Bowl.  Chiefs had Alex Smith, went to playoff twice and still replaced him.   BY as of now: - To many fumbles - Completion in the intermediate range is just far below acceptable - Not enough of a deep throw threat....   The stats you try use is deceiving.  Catchable......  That is an opinion. Show me the completion %. And also, how does BY compare to other QBs using the stats you cited. Oh... ranked at 27

    • The Entitlement Paradox: When Winning Isn't Enough for Panther fans.    Just the other season(s) we were praying for wins by any means. Brought in every run of the mill QB you could think of.  We know all sides of the ball was bad like egregious bad. However some how we have won 5 games and TOXIC ENTITLEMENT has emerged.    We are a team that has to take wins by anymeans nothing has changed. Keep pounding means it aint gonna be perfect!!    Some panther fans have now developed a toxic entitlement where even victories feel insufficient, demanding flawless performance, or perfection, which stems from historical success in which we dont have any lol. This mindset poisons communities by fostering relentless criticism, harassment, and ingratitude that undermine team morale and alienate casual supporters. For the new Carolina Panthers, this could manifest as fans booing Bryce Young after gritty wins for low passing yards despite low turnovers, pressuring tepper into premature changes mid-rebuild, or driving away talent through online abuse!! eroding the positive momentum from their recent 4-game streak has brought us. Trust and believe the players do see your toxicity.    Anyways here are some positive stats.      Most Accurate QB on... 20+ Yard Throws 1. Drake Maye (79.2%) 2. Sam Darnold (79.2%) 3. Bryce Young (75.0%) 10-19 Yard Throws 1. Jaxson Dart (88.0%) 2. Jayden Daniels (82.9%) 3. Drake Maye (80.7%) 0-9 Yard Throws 1. Drake Maye (92.9%) 2. Spencer Rattler (92.6%) 3. Bryce Young (91.7%) @FantasyPtsData
