The pass rush somewhat expected let's not forget the run defense that has allowed them to get after the QB surrending less than 2.7 yards per carry and 130 yards total on the ground.......

That's less than our average per game the last two seasons that's HUGE.

Just incase someone scrolled by without seeing that. That's improvement!

I don't think people truly get how impressive it is that both Burns and Reddick are averaging a sack a game lol.

For comparison, NFL Single season record for Sacks is 22.5. Michael Strahan, 2001 season.
The next one on the team had 6 Sacks. Team total sacks for that season were 46

I'm with you. The pass rush and sacks are getting all of the attention but we've been completely shutting down run games.

The front office absolutely killed the off-season with the additions of Fox, Reddick, and Jones.

On the defensive side of the ball.

I love the Reddick and Burns challenge.  They both have 3 each and are in competition to out do one another. Actually, I think Reddick is up a half a sack.   If you remember Burn's sack you can see him mouth.  "That's three"  I'd bet it was directed at Reddick. LOL.  Reddick got his later.  It's going to be hillarious if one or the other goes up a sack or two on the other.  It will be game on.

pretty sure they did the same in the Taints game.

Yup, the Jameis sack where he threw it backwards.

That is the 2nd one that refs have stolen from Burns that I can remember.  The other one was the second strip sack against Herbert last year.

I dont know who was in on the sack last night that they rules an incomplete pass, but again, I don't see that happen to other teams.  I almost wanted Rhule to throw the challenge flag just to get our guys that sack lol.

Hopefully the OL will get similar attention in the near future.

They will. It has gotten attention but apparently not everyone has noticed.  It will get a lot more now that it appears we may not need to go qb with our first pick again next draft. That is unless there's one there that Rhule wants.

    • Oh yeah the QB is huge in this stuff. Imagine what Smitty could have done with a surgeon back there. And some more offensive minded head coaches. It was always run heavy. He was one of the best I ever saw and people didn’t know who he was outside of Carolina, for the longest time.
    • For sure, any college scout that touted Bryce Young as worth the first overall pick, needs to be gone. I don’t think the college scouts are so much the issue, I think it is the minds of the decision makers that have the most influence.  If this draft produces, and Morgan was really in charge, maybe Tepper will develop some respect and stay back and let people work.
    • I just am not aware of regimens that offer increased velocity which is the biggest weakness I can see in Young (that needs addressing right now). Is it possible to do? Who has done it that we can see as an example? I guess I am saying before I believe weights will give him added zip on the ball, I would want proof that it works.    I think weight room would help him not be pulled down by two fingers, even if they are big strong DL fingers. They are still fingers controlling 185 lbs. So that needs to be addressed but it is a secondary issue behind his footwork and ball velocity. It might help too, in allowing him to retain some velocity while not putting 100% effort into throws. Which should help his ‘deep’ ball.  I agree they can’t fix his footwork on those pistol or gun snaps where he slowly goes backwards and does the tippy toe thing.  Maybe putting him under center and taking the option of that type of drop away from him, forcing him into the classic under center style. Drop and plant and throw. Maybe that would help get around it.
