Also it’s just weird how some posters relish other random players failing. Fields is just a kid and has nothing to do with the Panthers.

Unless it benefits the Panthers I don’t really enjoy watching anyone get destroyed.

Agree. I felt bad for Fields yesterday. I also wanted him here, but happy with how things have worked out so far

The crazy thing about Darnold I think a lot of people are over looking is his decision making. He hasn’t had a lot of clean pockets, let’s face it our OL isn’t great. What is great about that scenario though is the fact that Darnold has only made one errenous mistake with that shovel pass int. He has only made roughly 3-4 passes that could’ve been ints from my count and comparing that to season past at any point in the season is amazing. He currently has 6 total TDs to 1 INT, at no point in his Jets career was his ration this good. If Joe Brady could get his redzone play calling together he might be 10 to 1, but bygones are bygones. Looking forward we just have to keep building his confidence add more wrinkles to schemes and we might be looking at one of the biggest trade steals of the decade.

Pisses me off. All the talking heads are protecting themselves today by trashing Nagy. Maybe he is terrible but he didn't want to play Fields and now we've seen why. Their oline is terrible and could have gotten him hurt. Dalton is mediocre but he has a lot of experience and can process faster. I don't know if Fields will be any good but if he keeps playing behind that oline we won't get a chance to find out because he'll be ruined.

That said, I'm happy with Sam.

Kinda like posters here did with Darnold?  It seems to be a given that Darnold is garbage and will never be anything other. While Fields should be given the benefit of the doubt.

The reality is all young QBs need coaching and a good team around them to succeed.  None of these kids can carry a team all by themselves.  Expecting any qb to carry a team all by themselves is ridiculous.  I keep hearing folks say this, but he can't carry a team on his shoulders, that is the dumbest poo I've ever heard. No qb can carry a team all by themselves.

Rant over.

It all makes sense when you realized years ago these folks have no idea what they are talking about.

Sam Darnold had three years as a starting QB before the Jets wrote him off.  Whether that shows itself to be the right or wrong decision, it was three years.

We're ready to declare Fields a flop after his first start as a rookie, against the #5 rushing defense and the #5 pass defense?  Come on man.  That story isn't anywhere near written yet.

Let’s get past the Matt Moore/Kyle Allen 5 game threshold and see what we think.

sigh...

These comparisons are ridiculous.     None of those two players are even remotely comparable to Sam.

Matt Moore, during his time with Carolina, played a total of 13 games throughout 3 seasons.    Was he a backup at that point, I don't know.

Kyle Allen's "best" statistical season had him start 5-3, then lost 8 STRAIGHT GAMES to finish the season.

(Suffice it to say, i just don't see the team losing 8 straight...)

This whole "waiting for the other shoe to drop" is so NY Jets-esque.    We are not the Jets.   We have competent Coaching, Ownership(now), and PLAYERS.

You're not picking up what I'm putting down, not comparing the players.

Hmm...I think you're right.

You're actually telling OTHERS to stop it with the Kyle Allen/Matt Moore Game 5 threshold.

My deepest apologies for my knee-jerk response to you, friend.  🥴

The biggest thing I saw from Fields' debut was something that I heard a lot of scouts talking about with him and that he has a VERY slow delivery and it was clear in that game. The Bears suck and their gameplan was bad I agree but watch and you will see a lot of defenders getting around the WRs to break up the plays. This is because of that slow delivery. Once he pulls back to throw, the defender can see where the ball is going to and they have enough time to jump the pass. That's going to be a major issue for him in the future if he doesn't learn how to get it out of his hand faster. Someone is going to need to change the way he throws the ball or he won't make it in the NFL.

It wasn’t the delivery. Guys weren’t open. The Bears didn’t protect their QB. 20 drop backs to throw, 13 times it was with the minimum protection. On those 20 attempted throws, only 29% of the time was a WR remotely open. There was no separation because the Browns found out Nagy wasn’t changing his game plan for Fields compared to Dalton.

Miles said after the second series they felt the Bears made it easier for them because they weren’t taking advantage of Fields traits and it allowed their secondary to sit in the 7-10 yard range while their dline feasted against minimal blocking. That’s why national media and former players are demanding Nagy be fired immediately.

This is why Nagy is considering giving up play calling again.

this was most of the game offensively. 5 man protection with no chipping or help from the TE or RB. Kid is getting killed in 2 seconds and no WR has won their route. Dalton back there doesn’t help. If the ball comes out any sooner no WR is ready and it likely leads to a muffed catch that turns into an INT.

If you spend the whole game calling plays like this it doesn’t matter who the QB is when the line is getting abused like that.
