First off, I'd like to say that in regards to my drunken rage yesterday I have...

no regrets GIF

 

Second, here are some more sober thoughts about yesterday's loss.

 

Momentum, I believe in it. Young teams are especially susceptible to it, both positive and negative. This is why those many blown calls in the first half were so detrimental. It's not just about the score. 

 

Sam Darnold, I believe in him. Sam has played the best football from the QB position since 2015. The Panthers must find a way to protect him and give him more time or else I fear soon he may regress to a green uniform.

 

Chuba Hubbard showed a lot of promise and settled my mind about the backup RB spot. He is good enough for this team to win with.

 

Run defense was pretty bad yesterday, but it happens. Until it happens again I am not even going to worry about it. All of our best defenses had occasional breakdowns like that from time to time.

 

What I keep coming back to is how that felt like a Ron Rivera 45-7 blowout loss on the road. But Rhule kept the guys playing hard and kept it relatively close. That is encouraging.

It boils down to the Panthers had a cupcake first 3 weeks with 2 rookie QBs on bad teams and a Saints team led by Famous with a weakened roster/staff with covid and injuries. 
 

The secondary looked completely lost in the second half. I’m not sure if losing Horn was a reason yet. Their OLine looked like it was twice the size of our DLine. I didn’t like that matchup at all. 
 

They ran into a stud QB on a loaded team who will probably challenge for the NFC. Need to take this game and throw it in the trash and move on

Chinn isn't a FS but we are forcing him to play most snaps at FS.

I never thought the Panthers, the D, the coaching staff, Sam were what was collectively painted after 3 weeks. 

I also don’t think any of those things are what was painted after the Dallas game.  

I think when we are done with the 3 game stretch vs the Cowboys, Eagles and Vikings we will have a good overall picture of our strength and weaknesses and exactly where we stack up.

Whether I am sober or drunk I fuging hate the cowboys.   
 

I like where we are as a franchise but I am really questioning wtf they were thinking not going left tackle and addressing the line furthermore in the draft.     That decision is going to tank our season IMO.   If we can figure out the line in this off season then we are in good shape but I am not sure how you do that missing so many quality picks.  
 

fug the cowboys and fug the cheating refs.

      I think the qualification has changed over time though. A deep ball play used to take 4 to 6 seconds for the receiver to get to that spot on the field. Now a receiver can be there in 2.5. That's less time than most QBs have to set and throw. In my mind a deep route takes time to develop. A crossing route and a deep route can't take the same amount of time at full speed. You can have 4 deep balls on the same drive,  almost 5 if you do 5 20 yard throws goal line to goal line. That doesn't even make sense when you say it out loud.

      The sad part is it looks manicured enough that he's aware it's running away from him.  Also, I just wanted to give you some fun loving grief on King Haynes today having a chance to throw a game winning TD, and was wildly errant, and ultimately picked off to end the game.  So happy I won't have to hear anything else about The Golden Calf of Bristol lite ever again watching college football.

      I just think Panthers believe in Bryce far more than the fans do and he is most likely going to be the QB at least the next two seasons. the real shot of us moving from Bryce is not getting an extension, till then they are going to give him every chance to succeed and I just want to win.
