I stand by what i said in ultimately i didnt have a problem taking Horn. Its just now im confused in how we continued to prioritize CB even after the draft.  We could have took slater and still acquired CJ and Gilmore later. Pass defense is not a problem, keith Taylor looked good today.

Big problem with your statement though. CJ and Gilmore were happily on other teams with no signs of being released or traded at the draft. So with this in mind, there was no way to know Fit and the team would have a chance at them. CB/secondary help was a need in the draft as well and they took the player they thought was best available to fill a need. One OT wouldn't have helped especially now seeing how utterly terrible Paradis and the rest of the inside have played so far.

Having a elite OT would have helped immensely. Yeah we would still have problems but having bad tackles and guards is way worse. It is what is they took Horn.

We tried to trade out of the #8 spot.  The only offers we received were worth less than that actual value of the 8th spot.  If we had, we might have gotten Slater or another lineman with the pick.

The only reason we are having this conversation about Slater is because Horn is hurt.

Hindsight of Horn being hurt makes Slater hurt more but Slater wasn’t guaranteed and Horn looked solid. LS over Smith was obvious when it happened.

And people were wanting Smith even earlier lol

Not me...Slater has been off the charts. Better than what i thought he would be.

If Horn was healthy, we could still be 3-2 right now. We have not had trouble stopping the pass at all this year outside a couple big plays.....even without him.

New GM is kinda proving why drafting a DB at #8 isn’t the ideal value move….

Need a stud DB? Gilmore cost a 6th to acquire. 

Need a young stud? Henderson cost a 5th to acquire. 

and he has openly voiced how no one is willing to talk about offensive lineman. 
 

*Horn definitely looks awesome.   But just in terms of positional value..corner at 8 might not of been the most ideal decision for a team with so many issues upfront and without a long term answer at QB yet

With all the investment in the front 7 and after seeing for years with Fox and Rivera that a good pass rush can win games even if you have a mediocre secondary of no name guys, I thought drafting a CB in the first round was foolish. Not that Horn is a bad player, quite the opposite. But a LT is a hard position to plug. Slater was considered a top level talent and at a premium position.

      Baker just played how Baker played.... everywhere but here. He is a risk taking gunslinger.  Always has been.   Geno Smith was the best deep ball passer in the NFL his comeback season.  Wasn't even close that year.  Again, that's the type passer Canales has always been around in the offenses he has been part of.  The pass game that compliments the stubborn run is the deep chunk play pass game.   And that was his first investment with XL.  My continued point, is the same as going into last season.  It's a bad marriage going in.  The QB doesn't fit the scheme.  Again.  Carrol/Fox/Ron....all paired up their boring football with risk taking QBs.  And again, I'm fine if that is where we are going.  It's not my preference but that's not my argument.  I'm saying if we are doing that, we need a QB that matches it.

      I guess you missed the point. His rushing attack was dead last yet his team still performed. That’s not Fox/Rivera ball. His QB also had a career year. Remember the same QB that played for us in the same division and was so bad he was cut?  Carroll coached after Lynch as well. In fact Canales was more involved in the more recent offense with Geno Smith and a good rushing attack. People are taking him wanting a rushing attack and assuming that means we are shutting down our passing attack. Again many of the top offenses like SF, Miami, and Detroit featured strong rushing attacks.

      Too bad it was all for nothing because his dumbass goalie can't stay on his feet or control the puck when it's right infront of him
