And we’ll have a franchise QB for the next 10 years lmao what is the problem here?

Legal issues aside, I wasn't aware the NFL had a decade long contract option.🤔

Just because he gets traded to a team doesn't mean he'll stay there past his current contract. Adding to that, giving up what the Texans want for him would be a major mistake while the team is rebuilding. Pulling off a huge trade for a QB is the kind of thing you do when you're ready to make that Superbowl run, not when you're trying to rebuild.

Tepper has not shown he can handle the rebuild mode.  He’s too much like Snyder in that he gets enamored with the new toy….in this case the  toy being Watson being available.

This roster is much closer than you think. I really feel we are a legit roster that is an above average QB and 2-3 new guys on the OL away from being a yearly playoff team. Now if you add one of the top 5 QBs in the game, CJ Henderson/Gilmore/Horn/Shaq come back healthy(or putting in the effort for CJ), and we get a couple dudes on the OL... It's not that farfetched to see this as a super bowl roster.

And we've seen what happens when you have a great QB with a crap Oline already. It gave us three winning seasons. If Tepper is not willing to learn from past mistakes and forces the trade for Watson, he'll have entered MJ meddling territory. For a decade or so Jordan did that to the Hornets and they sucked. Hopefully it doesn't take Tepper that long to learn and having to hire a friend/former teammate willing to tell him to shut up to get things on track like it did with MJ.

Nah. This team still has holes on defense that need to be addressed as well as on offense. It'll take more than a WB and 2-3 new Oline guys to compete.

I love Burns and hope he’s a cornerstone of our defense going forward but Id much rather have to replace an edge rusher than keep swinging and missing on QBs

its been 3 years but i think some of y’all have forgotten what it was like to go into every game with a real chance of winning and when Cam was healthy thats how i felt every game. Watson is that good. And now we actually have a competent GM to build a team around him

Just no draft picks.

Its like this owner treats his NFL team like its his fantasy football team. Got the money and wants to win really really bad. I bet they would get him knowing the nfl will not let him play this year.

When you think of 3 firsts with  Watson, those picks will most likely be at least in the teens. So not as bad as i originally thought..

I am not sure whether i want him to do it or not but i love the fact that our owner wants to win as much as us fans and prob more!  I love that about him.

Panthers PR team gonna need to do some special gymnastics to get the fanbase to forget about the other stuff

Just as long as Watson doesn't support women wearing jeans in the workplace he should be fine.

Mick Mixion just had an interview with rock 92 and said every fan he’s talked to is wanting Watson. The fans a ready to win…

I want Watson but Watson, to me, is a future acquisition. We'll suck the rest of this year but next year he'll have us ready to win

    • overall agree on the draft grade as a whole on on each pick, but every time I read (and I have read it more than once) that we "gave up two firsts" for Bryce, I am confused. We gave up the 2024 first, but we swapped 2023 firsts, so we didn't give up anything there. We did give up our former first rounder in DJ, but I don't think thats what you mean as one of the "firsts" we gave up.
    • Didn't  see this posted (since 2023) but since folks have been posting that you can't judge a draft class for three years (a ridiculous take), I thought I'd post this to see what people thought about the 2023 draft. Unfortunately this may not be the most interesting class to do this with but I do quite like retrospective draft grades. Would appreciate other's takes on this (and other recent) draft classes.   1(1) - Bryce Young QB: I am a bigger Bryce Young apologist than most (maybe all). I like the kid. But there is no way around it: This was a terrible pick. If he had been picked in the 4th or even the 3rd round I would feel pretty good about it. But this was the first overall pick that we gave up two firsts, our best offensive player to get.  GRADE: C -    2(39) - Jonathan Mingo WR: not much to say here here. He was here for two years. His yards per catch are on par with Bryce's yards per pass. Rough stuff. To date he has still never scored a touchdown in the NFL GRADE: F   3(80) - DJ Johnson OLB: a pick I hated as soon as it happened and an example of why the premise of this thread is honestly dumb. This was a bad pick when it happened. Most people knew it.  Then came training camp and he did not look good. Then came the preseason which confirmed what we saw in TC. Then came the season which confirmed what we saw in preseason. To date, he has half a sack in his career. GRADE: F 4 (114) Chandlers Zavala G: Honestly the best pick of this draft which really speaks to how awful this draft is. Other than Bryce, the only pick still on the team. He is mostly average or below average depth which in round 4 is not terrible. But he had a pff score of 43.5 and though I think people have unrealistic expectations for draft picks, I still would want a little more from a fourth round pick GRADE: C+   5 (145) - Jammie Robinson S: I liked the pick when it happened but ended up being a disappointment. He logged 1 tackle with the falcons last year and not enough snaps to get a grade on PFF.  GRADE: F OVERALL DRAFT GRADE: F
