I guess a new T would be OK, but what we really need is help at G.

If we got a LT, we could move Erving inside to LG, or RG, he's played both if memory serves.

I'm of the mind to keep our defense as is, IF we can't retain Donte, we're looking at -- Gilmore / Horn outside, and Bouye as the nickel as he is on a 2 year deal, Henderson as additional outside depth, Pride returning, and Keith Taylor, with Hartsfield as the CB / S piece.

We could definitely survive trading or losing Jackson, though I think they want to keep him, he has played well under Rhule's staff.

I imagine they are... I feel like there must be a team with playoff aspirations this year that could use help at corner... We are stacked there.

Same. There’s a lot of teams that can use secondary help. We need to recoup some of these picks by trading Donte.

We can’t afford to pay him. I mean we can but it wouldn’t be smart given the depth we have at that position

• Defensive backs are always hard to come by, and Denver’s become the place to call. Veteran corner Kyle Fuller is available, and the Broncos will listen to offers on safety Kareem Jackson (though they’re not actively shopping him). The Panthers’ A.J. Bouye is another name teams have discussed, though I’m told Carolina would need a really strong offer to consider parting with him.

So what you're saying is we will franchise him needlessly this year then award him top 5 corner money the next year, after drafting yet another corner in round 1? 😉

According to rumors Nick Martin, Cam Robinson, and Andre Dillard are all on the trade block. Also Mitchell Schwartz is a FA and here we are with our thumb in our ass.

I would be shopping Jackson. Bouye, Henderson, Horn, and Gillmore can stay for next year.

Need to tag him and ship him off to move up in the first or get out picks back. But yeah you are probably right

IDK why nobody has taken a flyer on Schwartz yet?  Is his health really that bad?

This is what they think a trade would look like. If we acquired the OT

    • I agree it is more about the OL. If you happen to have a world beater with a great OL then that’s better obviously but you don’t need to have that.  Capable and durable guys that can get to the second level with good blocking can be plenty.
    • I think Gibbs is special, but you’re right, some of the top investments have proven to not be much different than some 2nds and 3rds. Taylor for example is on an MVP level season. James Cook is doing better than Breece Hall for example. Raiders weren’t in a good spot to draft Jeanty. Same with the Falcons/Bijan.  You gotta swing at the right time — the investment shouldn’t come too early. You almost have to stumble into a guy mid to late rounds while building or find that guy to put you over the top when the team is finally well rounded.
    • Like I said in another post yesterday, the handling of the offensive line by Fitterer and mostly Morgan has been crazy. We've spent way too much money(Lewis and Hunt) to keep Bryce upright instead of using our picks in the 2nd round on JPJ and Frazier. Could have kept an injured Corbett at guard, Brady at swing, and still taken Maye as a backup, sorry Zavala. We wouldn't have taken XL, but XL hasn't been as advertised anyway, and Brooks hasn't contributed anything. Moton's extension with it's signing bonus made him uncutable. Icky's contract was due at the same time Bryce's 3rd year ended, and we all know it's extension or 5th year, and if we're going to do a 5th year, he's going to want the extension.  To me the whole thing is just ridiculous. Right now, depending on if Tepper decides to keep Bryce, it feels like we're going to have to choose between Icky and a Bryce extension. Maybe he plays on the 5th year, but I think he'll want the big money guarantee.  JMO, but if you took a look at how the contracts could potentially fall, the writing was on the wall that this could be a cash flow nightmare. Too many contract guarantees, not enough rookie contracts to offset the upcoming paydays.
