Difference here is Sam is Sam no illness no injury. He is Sam. College, jets, panthers the same. Cam was proven and deserved his second chance. He was coming back from an injury and they didn't  even let him try not even in a preseason game. Sam hasn't earned any chances and has had 3 Cam earned. Oranges to apples. Ditch Sam if possible if not then he is on your team but let him be a last resort.

Again why make any judgements until after the year. If Cam is great in this lineup then it is Darnold but if Cam has the same issue it might be the line and playcalling. So you let Cam play 4 games and then see who gives you the best chance to win the rest of the way. Besides Darnold could be a great backup who can win a game if necessary. Maybe sitting and watching will do him good.

But there's a difference between moving on from Can compared to Darnold and I don't think I need to get into those reasons

Right and no one was comparing them as quarterbacks. What I was pointing out was that it is convenient to find the scapegoat to get rid of without addressing the real problem when they dumped Cam and didnt address the O line once again. Novel idea why not fix the line and then decide if the qbs you have are suddenly better. That would go for Cam, Darnold, PJ, Barkley, et al.

But if Cam is the starter then Darnold is a much better backup than anyone else when he comes back. Why would you do anything this year? Plenty of time to evaluate after the season is over.

Yeah we shouldn’t out right cut him. He stays unless some team is stupid enough to trade for him and take on some of that contract which I don’t see happening…. If Cam plays serviceable and we sign him for another year and draft a rookie, do we still let Darnold keep a roster spot? That’s when it can get a little iffy, but we would probably roll with all 3.

you heard it folks. 55 has spoken.

Spoken what? That it is too early to be talking releasing someone at this point in the season. Lets see how Cam does and then after Darnold comes off IR we can decide what to do. Remember when we released Cam too early without giving him enough of a chance. Lets keep the pitchforks in the hay until after the season.

My personal theory is that the only way Cam is not our starter next season is if he's backing up Deshaun.

I think the ultimate goal is getting Watson. Since he's got a lot of issues right now and has so far spurned the idea of coming here maybe this move helps change that. If Watson comes out of his situation without looking like more of a pervert that is.

    • And don’t worry about Bryce he will be great… Peyton Manning had a horrible rookie year too 😂
    • Nothing wrong with it at all until you start telling others they are bad fans or not fans. But you are the good fan because you never say negative stuff about the team.    I did many years of that type of uninformed fanning because there really was no info and coverage like there is with the internet.    I mean, I used to go to the store and get Street and Smith’s annual football issue. That was about the extent of what you could get if you didn’t live in a big city with sportswriters covering and reporting.  There was no video to look at or replay the games and if you didn’t live in the market you could only rarely see your football team play.    TI have fanned since being a kid in the early 1960s, and as late as 1995 - ‘97 I lived in Atlanta and good luck getting more than 3 or 4 games a year on TV. No radio either. No print coverage outside of an AP recap and box unless they played Atlanta.  People today that have always had the network connection don’t know.    I wasn’t very educated about the Panthers until I finally got internet.
    • oh now that's what you call Mother Fiuggure fans the ones that always have this fierce protective shield around the team no matter if they win or lose  & to be honest there is nothing really wrong with being a Mother Fiugguer fan they just have a different meaning or sense of what a true fan really is                                                 ☺️
