Really, what does Derrick Brown do?

He's not good yet. He's got power for days but hasn't made a big impact yet probably due to not being the best athlete. I could see him being a late bloomer like Donte Jackson who doesn't actually get good til contract year.

Good is relative.  I know he had been balling up until today, but Donte was the worst DB on the field today.

he really needs someone next to him like KK did, as good as this defense has been it’s missing someone that can collapse the pocket, demand double teams, and shut down any run up the middle and it shows…i feel he’d be much more effective in a tandem

Great player don't need the other players to make them good, they are the player that makes the other ones better.

Nobody ever talks about Aaron Donald needing someone.

Also where was KK drafted and where was Brown drafted?

i don’t have Darnold like expectations for Brown, and the investment has already been spent

the point was to reap the most you can out of him, it’d be best to have another DT playmaker

Donte is one dimensional and we have a type that he doesn't fit, I expect him to be in Washington next year

Yeah, I never wanted to keep him after the additions we made this offseason and with Gilly and Henderson. CBs tend to cost a lot of money, regardless of their slot on a depth chart, and he's just not a priority to keep at this point.

As far as DB, I think its safe to say, he is already a bust.  He has regressed from what we saw last season, and guys in his mold, who are impacrful players, make an impact just off their size alone...  he got pancaked and escorted to the ground today more than anything else...  offenses aren't only unafraid to run up the middle on him, but they actually prefer to.  I didnt want him when we drafted him, and at this point, he looks like a bad pick.  I hope I'm wrong, but he just doesn't affect the game at all.

I mean he is a Hurney pick and the South Carolina DT was right there in state but I'll give him some time though

To be fair…

Kinlaw has been worse than Brown.

From our pick (Brown), all they way down to the end of the first round, only Wirfs, Becton, Terrell, Jefferson, and Lamb are really above average NFL players.

The 2020 NFL draft is on pace to have more first round incarcerations (Ruggs and potentially Arnette and Wilson) than pro bowlers (Young and Jefferson).
