The don't expect 2015 Cam argument

I think he might be a smarter passer and using more touch than in the past. But I don’t think he’s the same runner as he was, which is ok. He can still run but he’s 6 years older and not as fast and agile. The way he ran back in 2015 was just another level. If he has no further shoulder issues he will be a top tier QB for years. I’m worried about the shoulder but hope he proves me wrong.

Some of you Cam super fans got to chill and not take offense to any little thing said about Cam, you treat it like a personal attack. It feels like you are almost looking for something to be offended about.

I have a Cam jersey, my son has a Cam jersey, but I’m willing to accept that Cam at 32 is not the same athlete as he was at 26, and so should any reasonable person.

He ran over Simmons who is a linebacker

No he didn't.

Watch the play again.

He semi stiff arms a DB in the 8 hole.

Cmac is putting a good block on Simmons to the point that Simmons is off balance then he falls trying to tackle.

Running over someone is when they have a clean shot at you not when they are engaged or coming off a block.

Jesus it's like you guys have never been in a meeting room or been graded.

He's a smarter runner and still a dangerous runner, but he's also a smarter and better overall passer.

The one thing that hadn't changed that makes him MVP caliber is his effect on the team and the crowd. That hadn't changed. With Cam we have a chance and everyone knows that and believes it and the team will play at a higher level because of him when it mayters.

The biggest consistent issue we've had all season has been how we come out of the half. We're consistently flat and underwhelming. Solution: let that be Cam time. Let coaches make adjustments to the scheme (please someone tell them this is a thing) and let Cam make an adjustment to their demeanor.

Our staff believes in an elite defense. We don’t need Aaron Rodgers and if Cam can stay healthy and not turn the ball over, this team can go deep in the playoffs with Cam. Might not be this year, but next year if we can add to the OL looks promising.

He's the 32 year old version of his 2015 self. And that's okay. He's older, but wiser. Slower, but smarter about the runs and sack evasion. His arm isn't the cannon it once was, but it's stronger than it has been and pretty accurate.

He can read defenses better, thanks to more experience and the additional perspective he picked up under Belichick (that couldn't hurt). He can still inspire and lead teammates and fans alike. He actually seems less of an icon and more of a leader.

A good coach, a smart coach, can do a lot with Cam over the next couple of years. If they are smart, they don't just work with him as a starter, but actually get him to help pick and train a replacement, someone who has a similar skill set and gifts. Let the guy sit on the bench behind Cam for a year or two, then let Cam sit behind him as the mentor.

Get Cam a professional coach who won't be intimidated by him and you'll see solid dividends.

Bro, he stiff arms the db first the towards the end Simmons comes off his block and attempts to make the tackle meaning he put himself in harms way and yes cam trampled him over for the touchdown. It's not much clearer than that.

Not sure your definition of running someone over has to be completely squared up as per the rules of engagement. And then you joined in January and are questioning My knowledge of the game based on your own idea of what running someone over is lol.

It's yet to be known how strong his arm is right now but he does look good and his touch is improved. I hope we get to see him launch some deep balls on Miami.

He can definitely still run but he doesn't have the burst  he used to have from 11-15. But I don't think he needs it that much. Just needs to be able to extend plays and pick up 3rd and short.

rushing qbs are fun to watch but historically haven’t really gotten their team too far comparatively speaking to pure passers, which cam is not and will not ever be

but none of that is really an issue with cam, it’s all good enough, the problem most people are concerned about is how the shoulder is going to hold up 17+ games

because since injury he only played a season where he played 10 games and it went flaccid…then was on IR for a couple years, then went to the patriots and the time he played between COVID and getting benched along with quite a few questionable, straight in the dirt throws… it’s a pretty valid concern wondering if he may go flaccid towards the end of the season again

there was an article where he said he didn’t understand why is shoulder didn’t work that one season after 10 games or so and his back ups threw anything over 20 yards for him…the way it sounded is he wasn’t it pain he just couldn’t throw.

I think you went off the rails a bit there at the end.  I agree that QB's who rely heavily on their running haven't tended to be the most successful.  On the flip side, I think you are discounting the strides Cam has made as a passer.

Take a look at recent history.  Cam has become quite a good passer.  In the past he relied on the cannon arm he had, it allowed him to do things very few QB's have ever been able to do.  That's gone, but he's adjusted.  I think he's a better passer now than he's ever been in his career and his stats back it up.  His touch and accuracy are way, way better.

No, he's probably not ever going to be the passer Tom Brady is.  But Brady will never have the full skill set that Cam has either.  Cam is now good enough as a passer that you probably don't want to let him try to beat you from the pocket, because he can do that.

Lol it was a mistake on the run anyway.

Cmac had inside leverage Cam should have cut it off Cmac's ass.

I'm glad he overcame it.

And join date means nothing around here. People can lurk forever and who is the guy that was making all the PJ threads with alts???

Brady doesn't need the full skillset Cam has he has over 600 passing TDs.
