Basically dont draft a one dimensional player top top and a meh athlete. Fat run stoppers can be had rounds 2-5. Phil has look decent for example. Roy has his moments as well... But Brown... this I run a 5.2 whatever he did and I'm mostly a run stuffer but not really...is looking as busty as  42 year old mom on the rebound. Very dissapointed.

Whether or not you think brown went too early in the first is kinda irrelevant. No one would say “I knew he wasn’t a first rounder.” He was pretty much the top DT on the board.

The fact he’s playing like an UDFA is either an indictment of the entire evaluation process league wide, or he has just checked out to a degree not seen since Jeff otah.

The fact that he was billed as a strong run defender is the real rub. He has not been that at all. Very undisciplined in the run game.

Good CBs and DTs can be found player in the draft. It's a huge red flag when the staff doesn't understand positional value.

Meh, both should be good enough to play but I doubt they ever shake the 'look at who we could have had' discussions.

I'm just over this staff and their incompetence.

    • Yuck.  I still kind of like Herbert but these playoff performances are rough....
    • I feel like this was the case with River and McDermott defenses as well, we just had the jimmies and the joes to overcome these deficiencies with all pro players at edge and linebacker positions.  Even then, was extremely frustrated in 2015 when we'd let team come back from 20+ pt deficits playing prevent only to barely win at the end.
    • We need to move on soon and just use Bryce as a bridge to find our next guy. I'd like to see how this offense works with Canales hand picking his own guy. Bryce holds this offense back a lot considering you draft the first pick to carry your team and be your best player. We invested heavily for Bryce and need everything to go right just to have him look like a solid game manager sometimes. When he plays well he can look decent or mid, but when he plays bad he looks like a bottom 5 qb in league (backups included). It's not worth it, especially if we need to pay him soon, which means we have to skimp all over the roster. If the defenses don't hand it to us on a silver platter Atlanta style then we struggle big time. Defenses don't respect the offense at all. With Cam we could have the worst offensive talent and I'd still think we had a shot in any game we played. If Bryce is facing a 3rd and 10 I pretty much wave the white flag and don't think we can make that first down.
