The money part of firing Rhule

As far as Rhule's contract, it simply shouldn't make a big difference in Tepper's decision making process.  The amount of money we're talking about amounts to almost nothing in terms of Tepper's net worth.

My thing is if he's thinking over whether to give one more year, he might be more willing to pull the trigger easier If he can get out at 50-60%.

This guy uses coupons at fast food restaurants and makes his friends pay for him, don't be quick to assume he's ready to just burn 50 million dollars.

25 million maybe, but 50 million is a $HITTON of money.

Perhaps Tepper is that tight with his organization's money.  Guess we'll find out soon enough.  Not much longer until the Panthers season will be coming to an end.  At that point Tepper will have a decision to make when it comes to Rhule.

I don’t think it’s a money thing as much as it’s a image thing. I don’t think Tepper wants to look stupid and wants to be patient. I think he would spend twice the money today if he knew it was the right choice and wouldn’t get chastised by every talking head on TV that needs something to talk about in the off season.

You all are thinking of it the wrong way.

Think of it in terms of net loss.

Fire Rhule - Net loss of 50 million

Keep Rhule - loss of fans, merch sales, concessions, appearances, and all the other $$ this team makes for many seasons.

I'd wager the second one is more than 50 million.

For the first season since moving here, I have not attended one single game in person. I have watched all of them on TV though. I think Baylor/Temple college coach Matt Rhule has shown us that he is not ready for the NFL ( neither would I be ). Lets move on and get a NFL worthy coaching staff. The Carolinas deserves it.

What Fitters does moving forward is more important. We need talent and franchise players. I'm not really sure how he's going to go get that with Rhule having total control and running a college program.

Tickets and concessions aren't as much as people think actually.  I think average team makes 7 mill from tickets and like 4 to 5 mill on concessions and after expenses is single digit profit.   It's all about profit sharing and TV deals and big corporate sponsers.   Sadly BofA being in a transplant town also means tickets will keep being sold and concessions when we suck.

Anyway I don't think Tepper bought this franchise to make money.  It's a rich guy hobby.  Retirement.  NFL teams are worth so much now it's not like you can make a ton of profit buying them.  We just have to hope he doesn't get bored and move on lol.  I don't think firing Rhule impacts this guy at all.  He's made more money in the pandemic probably than before.

If Tepper decided to pull the plug after this season, a big consideration is Matt Rhule is due 5 years 100% guaranteed at $10 million... so 50 million

If I'm not mistaken, those buyouts usually don't equal "coach gets a check" there's terms that usually say if terminated, you can accept this lump sum amount or get payments of the remaining balance over 10-12 years, but if you accept payments you cannot accept another job.

I'm just wondering if Matt's contract is as iron clad as made out? Usually most coaches don't ever usually get 100% of that guaranteed amount unless they take payments, so they get a lump sum of 50-60%.

I'll take 25 million and pack my bags.
