People have too strong an emotional attachment to players.

We don't want them treated like commodities when we feel they are special, but when they don't live up to expectations, especially because they friggin keep getting hurt, we need to cut bait rather than extend them.

But you mention that and people go beserk, but what happens when you don't treat them like commodities is this kind of poo.

Choose what's best for the team long term rather than what's best for these special players we like so much.

Give me the Pats approach any day.

I have long stopped hating the Pats not that I root for them or anything but I'm not the type to ignore clear greatness/intelligence or dislike competence.

Found mine from that thread.   Everyone should have to go find their own and out themselves.

I love CMC.  But I have never endorsed paying RBs big money.  Having the highest paid RB in the NFL never actually ends up being a good thing

Oh ffs give it a rest.

Fournette was NEVER AN OPTION.  Not that we didn't consider him.  We did, all evidence indicates we did.  But he was gone by the time we picked!  If you really want to wallow in self pity, consider that we passed on Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson to draft CMC.  Those guys were actually available at our pick.

Quit falling into recency bias. I love how all of a sudden, mccaffery is some injured bum who wouldn't even be tradeable and we're crying over fournette who never lived upto his draft status and had a couple games with 3 tds from the goal line. Fournette has 970 all purpose yds and 8 tds,  mccaffery has missed 5 games and has 780 yds and 2 tds. 200 less yds, Rush mccaffery from the goal line as well and he'll give you double digit touchdowns easily. The fact that he has 2 tds does not mean he is unable to score from the goal line. Gimme mccaffery over fournette anyday, this thread is stupid as is Pearson. Victims of recency bias

CMC needs to take a pay cut. PERIOD.

If he doesnt, make other plans to trade/release him.

You can focus the entire Offense around one player that can not stay on the field. Period.

Especially if that player is the highest paid, EVEN AFTER 10 other elite RB signed deals.

Beyond pissed about CMC and that contract that never should have been offered.

Heading into 2022 he would have been a FA, LIKE HE SHOULD BE!

No other team in history have paid RBs like the panthers, madding...

I wish I could find my posts following Cam's MVP season and CMC's break out season.  I said both times the best thing we could have done is trade them for draft capital.  I wasn't wrong.

If you find them, mine 20 or so posts about not paying him should be around them. Took heavy heat for that, just like many of my opinions......just like my other hot takes, I was right.

Another one. One post in particular takes the cake. It was deleted but remains in quotes.

I look like a genius in that thread.

"He had 2 years left with a potential franchise tag year, we win 5 games and we force fed him the ball to get the record and now we are paying for that.  Godalmighty Panthers you just cannot make this poo up. "

I had a feeling his durability would be an issue as a RB in NFL.  He could barely muster 10 reps on 225lbs at the combine.  While guys like saquon Barkley smashed the 225 bench for 29 reps! He should've been converted to a WR

The bench has nothing to do with his injuries he has only missed 3 games because of a shoulder, ankle . quad ,hamstring and ankle again have nothing to do with reps and CMC was 20 years old at the combine. I like Barkley but he’s the worst guy you could use as a comparison he’s been hurt more than CMC and it’s probably because he’s to muscle bound and tight. CMC is not a WR never was he’s a elite RB when healthy . But to be fair to CMC and his contract Henry is out , Cook has been out over his career, Kamara has missed a lot of games, Aaron Jones is now starting to miss games and all of these players have contracts similar to CMC

    • Do you see the vision?  As of now our Carolina Panthers don’t have an identity. We are not an offensive powerhouse and on defense we only started getting it together towards the end of the year last year. In my opinion we are much closer to having an incredible defense that scares the daylights out of people. I say the answer is simple and we fully commit to that possible identity.    Emmanuel McNeil Warren (E man)  This guy is like a shark lurking around ready to attack anyone. Fearless. He is easily a top 20 talent in my eyes, and the only reason he isn’t more talked about is because he’s from Toledo. Do your due diligence as panther fans and watch his tape I beg you. Once you’re done watching let me ask you this, if you dropped E - Man into the strong safety spot on the Buckeyes, he isn’t being talked about as one of the best prospects we’ve seen in some time given the skill set you see with this guy? I think so. Put his name on the card and turn it in at 19.    Jacob Rodriguez  High effort, High energy, High IQ guy that flies around the field. We all know Jacob at this point. My only concern is he’s a little bit too good and I’m not sure he makes it to us at our pick in the second. With the additions of Jacob and E- Man I think our defense goes to top 5 in the league. We would have a duo of linebackers that rival anything we’ve had in our past. I’m not a GM so I don’t know what the possible answer could be, but if there’s a way we can comfortably trade up in the second to secure this guy I think we find a way to do it.    Spend the rest of our picks fixing the O - line.    Thoughts Panthers fans? Who’s the ideal duo for yall?
    • OL is arguably much more important to the success of a young QB. (Or any QB)
    • Didn’t get around to watching this one but looks like Pistons played their starters and actually tried…? Unlucky that they sit vs Magic, etc and try vs us. Hopefully we can beat the Heat and then Magic or 6ers with no Embiid. BUT if not, the NBA really should give us the lottery win this year like they did Mavs last year. Another high pick could be our final missing piece and have us as legit top contenders next year and going forward if we’re healthy. Or trade it for a Giannis type
