Rhule is a builder. He built our defense that was at the bottom of the league for the last 2 years and has made them into a top 5 unit. I think he gets a year to try and fix the offense. Just make sure he fires brady and doesn't make the choice for QB because it's clear we have no idea what we are doing there.

A friend of mine has a son who used to build teams in Madden. He'd create custom team names, logos, profiles, etc.

And then he'd play actual games with them just once or twice before building a new one.

Some guys like the building process rather than the finished product.

I kinda wonder if Rhule might not be one of those people.

Sorry but that defense against better teams, bigger lines, is a poo show

I would say yes considering the past two jobs he left for rebuilds. Reminds me of a house flipper.

Yeah if we could only go back over the last 15 years or so and cherry pick the best player available in every draft we would be all good

I think the difference here though is that the picks being discussed were at a glaring position of need that continues to be an Achilles heel. DT (assuming Brown isn't completely flaming out) and CB were definitely improved with these picks, but OT and the OL is by far the crappiest unit on the field. There was clear logic and reason to take those tackles over who they did and yet they didn't.

But numerous league and college sources said the NFL coach held in highest regard by many premier programs is Carolina coach Matt Rhule.

Sources said LSU had Rhule atop their wish list -- it ended up hiring Brian Kelly from Notre Dame -- as did USC and Oklahoma, the latter yet to name a coach with Lincoln Riley going to USC. Programs put out major feelers for Rhule, sources said, a coach who revived programs at Temple and Baylor and produced staffs and players who excelled as well. Rhule is in his second year of what has been a rocky tenure with the Panthers, as that team struggles to find an offensive identity and, most importantly, someone to handle quarterback duties for more than a temporary basis.

but college programs still wanted to gauge his interest before moving on with their searches.

Hard to imagine Rhule turning down LSU and ND without at least some assurances from Tepper about his future here. Probably means he's here for 2022.

    • Dude, I think I might be having Jarvy withdrawals... I ripped the sleeves off of all of my t-shirts in my sleep last night. Every bite of my Alpha-Bita cereal spelled Seth, this morning. And, I took 7 naps before lunch. I'm losing it guys! Jarvy's Jaunty Band of Jaggoffs are getting more play than he is... smh Team Canada doesn't treasure Jarvis the way he deserves. He should take his band down to Liechtenstein, get a bag of passports, and start his own Olympic team! The raw animal magnetism of Jarvilicious will bring in a handful of NHLers on its own. And, since the IOC believes in collective punishment, he could have his pick of the rookies. Then, just fill out the rest of the roster with the maple blooded great white northerners who couldn't make the top squad. Can't trust this assembled awesomery to just any old Liechtensteinien with a clipboard and a whistle. Gotta bring in a legend worthy of this gold medal gambit. A hockey HOFer with the balls to buck the system and the aura to match our maverick. Huere geil, Vaduz!!! 2030 Gold Medal guaranteed!
    • Tennessee isn't trading a QB on a 2nd round contract that has starting experience.  That's bad business.
    • OT is the top priority as it is both an immediate and future need.  I wouldn't be past trading up slightly to get the guy we want.  You need that rookie contract right now.  Icky is a dead 17.5 million for the season.  Morton is 20+ mil for the season, Hunt is 20+ mil for the season.  There needs to be forward thinking regarding the future.   Caleb Lomu is a left Tackle, he's a solid prospect, he may be the best pick for us now and in the future.  I would seriously consider cutting Hunt after 2026, and let Lomu and Icky fight for the LT job, loser moves inside.  Icky's future may be at guard after this injury anyway.  If Damien Lewis keeps up his level of play he will need to be paid sooner rather than later.  Yosh and BC can be our top two depth OL at an affordable price.  You will need to look at OT again in 2027. Getting an EDGE for the sake of getting an EDGE outside of the top 10 is pretty risky.  I wouldn't be against eyeing someone like Cashius Howell, Derrick Moore, or TJ Parker in the 2nd (even if we trade a future pick to move up) or DDS in the third. I'd love to see us try to sign both Leo Chenal and Matt Millano in FA.   Chenal for the blitzing element we are missing from our LB corps and Millano for his elite coverage.  They could both work in tandem.  Remember, our FO has deep ties to both KC and Buffalo. I love thinking about the draft, but until Free Agency hits, we are clueless.  Looking at the strength of FA and the draft, OL is priority #1, LB #2, and EDGE #3.  We know what happens to Bryce when protection falls apart.
