We already knew Rivera could be better without Hurney. Gettleman proved that and I wouldn't say he was even that much better than Hurney.

The funny part was Ron really wanted Hurney back. Some people just don't learn how to walk away from an Ex.

Hurney didn't hold Ron accountable like Dave did I bet. Dave was lucky to inherit a team with a HOF caliber MLB and transcendent talent at QB. He can't scout QB's worth a sh*t. Dude is great a digging up some UDFA guard though.

firing Rivera was not a mistake, aggressively pursuing a coach to replace him who has no NFL experience at all, pay him a Kings ransom and give him full personnel decision making power was the mistake whether its Rhule or anyone else who fits that description.

I don't blame Rhule either, he was offered the job and he accepted it, who wouldn't accept that payday?

Fake it till you make it....If that doesn't work, just cash the check and go home and chill like a MOFO!!!

I answered "Yes" because I would rather have Rivera over Rhule. We all have our problems with Ron, but he has shown that he does belong in the league.

I have not seen anything that indicates Rhule should be coaching a professional football team.

However, I wanted to move on from Rivera as it was time. I hope our next HC isn't as incompetent as Rhule is.

Gettleman was another horrible GM.  It would have been nice to of seen Ron Rivera paired with a decent GM.

I still think his time was up.  But it would have been interesting to see what played out of the Gettlemen hire would have actually been a good one.   And we know Gettlemen was horrific.  He showed that elsewhere.

I think he should have gotten one more year with a good GM, as well as Cam. We had a stupidly talented roster in 2019. If we could have built on that who knows.

Edit: Or I should say built on it in the correct areas.

I think you nailed it. DG was like a real boss and Ron hated it, even tho he performed at his best for those years as imperfect as it was.

The two of them were far more similar when it came to their philosophies.

(which is a big reason why they were such a failure)

I agree 100%. When Hurney came back I knew Ron was doomed here. Their only winning season o  the 2.0 was with another GMs roster.

Rhule has been an abject failure IMO, and I think we’d be in the same if not better spot if Rivera was retained.

No.

Name a Super Bowl winning coach who didn't win his first within five years of taking over his team.

I'll wait.  (Andy Reid is the only one I know of)

    • I don't think so. I think once you're measuring electronically, the spot is where the sensor says it is. So if it says half yard short of the line to gain, that's the spot. Now how that works with scrums and the ball moving on two minute drills and poo is anybody's guess.
