Pro Bowl LB for a 5th Round Pick

We trade the league leader in tackles for a 5th rounder! Our linebacker corps is paper thin, I like Fritterer but this is just bad. Denzel is a real thumper he’s not a great coverage LB but he is a damn good run defender and doesn’t bounce off RB’s like Carter.

I said that after we traded him, I got called out. But yes we shouldn’t have traded him.

Obviously we can't absolve Fitterer he deserves his share of criticism. But this move in particular based on what we know now was all Matt Rhule. If he had went to Baylor or Temple he would still be here.

I had no problem with trading Perryman. He did nothing while he was here and it’s obvious he wasn’t all in - not to mention the vaccine issue. 

That said, add MLB to our list of needs this off-season. The void left by Kuechly’s sudden retirement has hurt the run defense as much as anything.

He didn't want to be here.  We kind of had to, makes it more clear we didn't vet him appropriately for what we/or he wanted

So he turned it around in Vegas, nice for him. We signed him and he showed up to camp out of shape, unvaccinated and all around just a general distraction while not looking like he'd offer anything on the field. We got a pick for the cap space which was already sunk anyways, the trade was completely fine. We've made plenty of terrible moves lately, this isn't one of them. He was going to be cut based on his behavior in training camp anyways.

Either way, Rhule didn't want him so he got traded.

He's a liability against the pass. He's good against the run and that racks up tackle numbers and Pro Bowl votes.

Given all the trading of draft picks for players I'm not mad. We had to do SOMETHING to get some draft capital back. How many wins do we have with Perryman on the roster? My guess is 5, so who cares?

In hindsight it looks like another one of Rhules reactionary blunders.  I recall him saying (indirectly) Perryman didn’t fit the brand of what they wanted to be and Carter does.
