Why have a punter that can't do poo else?

I understand that kickoffs and field goals are two separate arts but freak accidents like today are the reason you need a guy that is proficient in more than just punting.

I get field goals kind of but a punter that can't even do kickoffs is weird.  Was there never even practice or discussion?   Chase Blackburn should have fired so long ago.

Funniest thing to me is how they showed us having Zylstra and Walker attempt FGs on Twitter pre game and then when the game starts say that Lachlan Edwards was the replacement. I wonder who told them to say that lol

Yeah this is a puzzler considering the Panthers head coach can't shut up about players being capable of playing multiple positions but on the entire team there isn't a semi-capable backup kicker?

Most specialists only specialize in one thing. Punters can kick and kickers can punt in a pinch, but neither is generally all that great.

To be fair though, we don't really have any idea whether our punter can kick or not because our head coach chose to let somebody else do it.

And remember, this is the same coach who thinks John Miller is our best starting Right Guard.

That's what's so crazy about it...  and most of the ST guys usually screw around in practice and after they get their reps in try doing the thing story usually don't (kickers punting, and punters kicking, etc.).  It's absolutely bonkers that Edwards didn't feel "comfortable" enough to do the kickoffs of kicks, per Rhule...  but Zylstra somehow did?  I would cut Edwards immediately.  That is fuging ridiculous.
