Red wolves would have been really coool

Except that the only known red wolves left are in Eastern NC and there are more of them alive in captive protection than living in the wild. They are an endangered species and will likely be extinct within our lifetime.

  • They are the most endangered wolf in the world. As of December 2021, there are less than 20 left in the wild.
  • They mate for life and have one litter of pups a year. Often one litter will help their parents care for the next, younger group of pups.
  • Red wolves are great parents and will even care for another wolf’s babies, given the chance.
  • Also, they are very shy and don’t want to be around you or your house. It is very rare you will ever encounter one.
  • Red wolves weigh between 45 and 80 pounds. They are smaller than a gray wolf but larger than a coyote.
  • All wolves, including red wolves, help keep coyotes out of the area where they live. They are the apex predator and will run out or kill coyotes entering their territories.

Yes I agree and it's the most popular choice but legally they cannot because of copyrights from other teams.

If the WFT wanted to be the Red Wolves, they’d pony up the money to acquire the rights to the name. The Cleveland Guardians (MLB) just did this with a Cleveland roller derby team which has been called the Guardians for years.

    • The good thing about replacing a bad player is you really have nothing to lose. If their replacement is bad so what, you didn't get much worse and probably saved money.
    • I came over from the old Panthers Insider site. When Fox Sports bought that platform it slowly just started dying plus the guy who ran that site was dealing with some pretty significant health issues so the whole thing just slowly fell apart. Quite a few of us migrated over here. Not sure how many are still around.  I miss that place. It struck a nice balance of having enough active posters to keep productive conversation flowing but didn't have so much traffic that you end up with a lot of trolling BS. This place is getting there though since we shutdown new registrations but at some point we're going to have to open it back up or we'll watch this place slowly die off too as posters fall off for one reason or another. We just have to figure out a way to filter out the spam bots. It was a never ending battle to ban the spam bots to keep then from overrunning the site. You'd think they'd be a little more strategic. I mean, if you fill a site with nothing but spam people are just going to stop coming so it's not a sustainable model. But nope, every one of them makes dozens of duplicate threads filling up pages upon pages as soon as their account goes live.
    • lol...I don't remember that.  Although recalling what I had for breakfast yesterday is sometimes a challenge.  Hope it was a positive thing.
