Panthers taking offers for Cmac in the off-season

It was always going to end this way after the contract we gave him. RBs never see the end of their big paydays, we will likely not get an offer that suits our needs due to his cap hit and then we'll have to release him at some point. Friggin sucks, I'd rather keep the guy and hope it works itself out but he suddenly can't stay healthy now either.

Is there an article stating this?  Seems like its just someone's opinion.

That being said, we probably will listen to offers.

From Person's roster analysis in The Athletic...

Stays or goes? Stays

The Panthers would listen to offers for McCaffrey, who’s one of the league’s most versatile players. But it’s hard to imagine teams would give up much for a player who’s missed 23 of the past 33 games and still has $44 million left on his contract.

So it sounds like the person who made that IG post just took that first sentence and ran with it, implying that it was likely that CMC would be traded. Not technically dishonest, but misleading without full context.

CMC is a 26 million dead cap hit next year.   We ain't trading him next year.  Maybe in 2023 we can look to part with him.

Nevermind, maybe we will.  Because Matt Rhule is in charge.  And Matt Rhule does Matt Rhule things.  Because Matt Rhule is the worst.

It's crazy nobody understands this

Yeah, they were fishing for clicks.

The title of this thread is kind of inaccurate too. That's not what was being reported.

It's just another sign of a dysfunctional organization.

The concept of trading CMC isn't terrible, except that it is.

Every team in the NFL can look back and see that the dude has played 10 games in the last 32.  That's a HUGE hit to any trade value he might have.  No one is going to give us anything remotely resembling value for him.

If the Panthers think the guy can be healthy, there is literally ZERO reason to trade him.  The only reason they would consider it is because they DON'T have that belief.  Every other team can figure that out.

It's just dumb, dysfunctional Panthers again if the report is true.

Huh.

McCaffrey has played in as many games as Rhule has won in that same timeframe, and we're actively looking to get rid of CMC...

And CMC is actually good.

never ever give a RB a 2nd contract.  just draft another one in round 3.

    • He's right. Tepper ain't the one out there dropping balls, or missing blocks, or putting up having comically bad drafts. He's the one responsible for hiring the people that have kept our scouting department that has been one of the worst at evaluating college talent in the NFL.  He forced the transition to the 3-4 even though we've never fully committed to it and never been able to draft or sign the players to do it.  He's the one that signed used car salesman Fat Fhule that hadn't even won a game against a ranked opponent.  Then he signed a GM that was one of if not the worst GM in the history of the NFL, only to replace him with his assistant.  Frank Reich hired and fired in 9 games. Multiple potential hires for HC turning down interviews.  Changing QBs like underwear. Personal quest to trade for a sexual predator QB and would have if the contract didnt have to be 100% guaranteed.  Terrible contracts Rock Hill debacle  2023 trade up to 1 and him and his wife drafting BY  Worst defense in NFL history. Worst record in major league sports over the time frame of his ownership and the fans need to be patient and understanding of an 8 year and counting rebuild? There being any fans left is a goddamn miracle.
