Kirk Cousins Trade Potential?

He would make us better...but we'd basically just turn into the Vikings. Hello, mediocrity! Which sadly is a step up these days.

A late round pick, sure, if the goal is to be average again. A new contract and locking ourselves into Kirk Cousins as our "future"?  No thanks.

Nah we’ve got a better D than the Vikings, and comparable skill position players. If we could somehow overhaul the o line and add him we could make some noise.

I put Cousins into the same category where I used to put Matt Stafford, a huge stat guy but not necessarily a true winner.

A lot of people now say going to the Rams gave Stafford the lift he needed. That's still to be seen in the playoffs, but it's possible.

Does anyone here think this coaching staff could do that for Kirk Cousins?

Or... anybody? 😕

The knocking of Cousins in this thread is impressive. The guy isnt a dump off king, turns the ball over less than 85% of the league. Has thrown for 93 TDs and 26 picks over the last three seasons and over 4k in back to back seasons. All while avaraging 12 yards per competion over that period of time.

His average rating is over 100 for each of the last 3 seasons... He is the perfect bridge QB.

It's baffling. He's been an above average for the past 3 years. And people think they'd take Darnold in return.

Rhule's not desperate. He's incompetent. He has no concept of desperation. When he does stupid poo, it's because he thinks it's smart. There's no interior pressure on the former short-order cooks.

He hasn’t made this move yet.  I am against it at his age and he doesn’t move the needle unless it is as a bridge QB.  I don’t see this move making much sense.  We will need to draft our QB almost assuredly and that may not happen this draft.  The move for Darnold was a swing and miss for sure and Rhule has to know the next QB move he makes will probably determine his fate here.

Keeping PJ was a definite head scratcher…don’t get that move

Would be the best QB we've had since Cam took that shot against the Steelers in 2018. Not saying much but thats a fact.

Id be down to swap for Darnold and two 6ths with one conditional and the potential to be a 4th in 2023 with incentives hit surrounding playtime. Re-sign to a modest 2 year extension around 20 mil/per with maybe 25 guaranteed and you're a lot closer to competing than you were the day before.

I would not sink any more serious capital than that, especially in what is very likely a lame duck year.

Unlike Darnold and Teddy Cousins has actually performed with some level of success in this league. Hes not a top 10 guy obviously but with the market for qbs going up every year... if you aren't gonna draft one then the price for average is going to be stupid. Hell, Darnold has the 15th highest QB hit in the league next year...

Then the Vikings hire Nathaniel Hackett, he fixes Darnold and they become winners. Meanwhile Rhule and his staff pretty much destroy whatever ability Cousins still has and we stay in the basement.

(because that's how things work in Pantherland) 😕

What’s funny is that Kirk Cousins and Matt Stafford are the same caliber of QB imo and we tried to trade our first for Stafford lmao.

it’s almost a guarantee at this point that Tepper and Rhule will do something stupid again this offseason to continue the dismantling of this franchise.

Would rather have Garopallo(sp?) if we go with another vet. But I'd prefer they roll with the scrubs already on the roster if they want to throw more money at a vet qb.

He is better than anything we have but he also will drive you mad with untimely turnovers and goofs.  Also, 30 which isn’t that old but very luke warm on bringing him here.  Not sure he fixes things.  Agree on your comments about another vet unless its someone crazy like Rodgers (ain’t happening)

    • No disrespect intended, but you act as if we are supposed to value your opinion when it is all emotion and no fact.  The roster (I assume you mean offense) is "still trash" because someone who just signed up for the Huddle has declared it to be so?   Buhahaha.  ha.  Let me show you how FACTS work, and why emotional, unsupported opinions don't carry much weight: TE: Upgraded through the draft.  Sanders is a weapon that should improve the passing game and give Bryce an outlet he did not have last year. RB:  We just drafted the best RB in college football, one who can protect the passer, run the ball, and catch the ball like nobody else on the roster.  His knee will be cleared July 1.  OL: We just signed two of the best guards in football.  that is what Payton did to protect Brees.  Ekwonu has the skill and talent, he was simply missing technique.  We got him a better OL coach.  Center?  Bozeman was ineffective last year.  Corbett is an established veteran OLman.  It seems we are much better up front. WR:  We added a guy who gets open and has averaged about 900 yards per game as a #2 in Pittsburgh with an inferior QB there.  Thielen was a 1000 yard WR last season.  We have not had a #2 like XL, with his YAC capabilities and ability to catch contested passes.  In other words, the X is much better; the Z will be replaced with a stud WR, and the veteran slot will probably not be the #1 WR in 2024--he should be the #2 or even #3 most effective WR.  The 2023 Z WR, who had 418 yards and was showing signs of improving, will not be a starter in 2024.   As much as the OL has improved, we improved the weapons.  QB:  All of these additions increase levels of protection for the QB that he did not have last year and they give him more powerful weapons that he did not have last year.  Young will not be a rookie getting hammered trying to throw to people who are not separating.  This should make him improved.  How much? remains to be seen. Now keep in mind that we did this by not reworking contracts and kicking the can down the road.  We did not have a first rounder in the draft.  We added a second rounder to next year's draft.  We also addressed needs on defense as well, adding established DL, OLBs, ILBs, and DBs.  We get 2 first round pick starters who were injured most of the season back on that defense.  Yes, we lost Burns, Luvu, and a few others, but while being good players, they were either asking for too much money or they were not great fits for the system.  So the D should be better as well. That is not trash.
    • Last year he had Bryce and was in the dog house.  The year before we ran it 90% of the time and we had trash at QB, DJ only had 888 yards that season. We had trash QB and trash coaching his whole time here, hard to judge any wr during his time here
    • We essentially dropped 7 spots and got a future 2nd after the dust settled. Not bad at all.
