McAdoo, what did people expect?

I really expected nothing, because with Tepper that's what we get....NOTHING.

I think at this point, it's obvious he's just keeping quiet/staying risk averse right now.  He'd rather wait it out and look like a genius if Rhule pulls a rabbit out of his as$ in 2022 or fire him and claiming he was patient with the scrub.  If fired, then likely landing Bryce Young or CJ Stroud to be paired with a new coach.

Must not have thought it made sense to hire a guy to try and coach up this roster reconstructed by the fat man from Temple.

I was expecting that Rhule would have been fired. If you're brought in to build a winning culture and you've fired multiple assistant coaches that you personally hand picked and have gone 0-2 on quarterbacks that you personally hand picked...all within your first two years, then you are a fraud and should be relieved of your duties. This fantasy that we're just a Ben McAdoo away from being deep playoff contenders is willful ignorance regarding how bad Rhule has botched his time with Carolina.

Ron did the same thing his 1st 2 season..

Don't like Rhule but I'm just saying Ron made similar mistakes with his 1st staff..

I really don't understand what people were expecting.

When you are looking for an OC you can't really expect some other "rockstar" OC to take a lateral move, those guys are looking for HC jobs.

For an OC opening your candidate pool is either ex HC/OCs who have probably done bad the past few years or unproven position coaches, such as some QB coach.

I'm not saying this guy is going to work out, but he actually has NFL experience being an OC, and actually has had a few decent years doing so.   Alot of these position coaches lack the actual experience that we complain about Rhule's staff not having.

Eiter way none of this is going to matter if we don't improve the offensive line and get better QB play.

That's the problem with getting a college coach. Takes away like half your OC options. If we had a former NFL OC as our head coach he could afford to take a Brady or NFL position coach and help them along. Rhule can offer nothing to his staff in the form of actual x's and o's

Same could be said about hiring a NFL coach with a defensive background.  One of the arguments for hiring an offensive minded coach, that you really don't have to worry as much about losing your play caller.

    • With Horn I would gladly over pay... via the TAG.   I would take his 5th year option and TAG and TAG again. Dude is a monster but I dont want to pay for a monster with as few starts as he has.
    • If Bryce plays like last year, we will be picking high and can move on.  But I am curious to see how people on here are when he sees success and becomes the guy, if he does. It's almost like people want him to fail. He's got that Panther jersey on and a good attitude. I am rooting for him, as you should.  Last year the coaching, OL, and weapons were abysmal, and it put him in a tough spot. He did not play well either, but we saw glimpses, and its a full team sport. I choose to go into this year excited under a fresh new regime and a top prospect from 365 days ago at the helm with new OL and weapons. Whatever happens, happens. Let's have some fun with it.
    • Maybe. You know he wanted that OC gig each time, I believe the last time they even stated he interviewed for the role. This was during the whole youth movement that mccvay started as well.  Honestly I was hoping Seattle would have cut ties with pete, he would have been great here in a top mentor role. I don't think its talked about enough, they did Pete wrong. He made them a great NFL team for the first time in their history and gave them a SB. He's still in great shape by all reports and they just decided to go young. They even removed most of his pictures and quotes in the building. Sorta like what the pats did to bill, but waay worse.  I guess I have too much loyalty for the new times, no chance either should been to out for retirement..
