Hornets Acquire Montrezl Harrell from Washington

Harrell is who I wished we had watching him destroy us around the rim whenever we played Washington. He is superior to Plumblee. Harrell isn't afraid to put up the ball when he gets it down low. How many times does Plumblee pass it back outside? This is a great trade.

.500 team, 6 game losing streak, in desperate need of an actual NBA big, and we trade away a 6’9 developmental center and a 2nd rd pick for a 6’7 center small ball rotational piece which we kind of already had in PJ Washington. I just don’t get it. We’re marginally better in the short term maybe but what are we competing for this year anyways? A first round playoff exit?

We got a *basketball player* that is arguably the best BIG on this roster right now.  And we gave up next to nothing.

He just turned 28 so hopefully we can re-sign him this off-season; he’ll make a huge difference to these younger dudes.

The Hornets can’t afford not the make the playoffs this year. The pick we gave up for Kai has its’ heaviest protection this year. The following years the protection continues to dwindle. In a perfect world we make the playoffs and convey the 19th or 20th pick to New York.

Carey may well become a 10/10 guy but what separates him from Richards and Jones? Someone had to go and it was him. Not to mention, freeing up his cap space allows for more room for Bridges.

    • Yuck.  I still kind of like Herbert but these playoff performances are rough....
    • I feel like this was the case with River and McDermott defenses as well, we just had the jimmies and the joes to overcome these deficiencies with all pro players at edge and linebacker positions.  Even then, was extremely frustrated in 2015 when we'd let team come back from 20+ pt deficits playing prevent only to barely win at the end.
    • We need to move on soon and just use Bryce as a bridge to find our next guy. I'd like to see how this offense works with Canales hand picking his own guy. Bryce holds this offense back a lot considering you draft the first pick to carry your team and be your best player. We invested heavily for Bryce and need everything to go right just to have him look like a solid game manager sometimes. When he plays well he can look decent or mid, but when he plays bad he looks like a bottom 5 qb in league (backups included). It's not worth it, especially if we need to pay him soon, which means we have to skimp all over the roster. If the defenses don't hand it to us on a silver platter Atlanta style then we struggle big time. Defenses don't respect the offense at all. With Cam we could have the worst offensive talent and I'd still think we had a shot in any game we played. If Bryce is facing a 3rd and 10 I pretty much wave the white flag and don't think we can make that first down.
